mount USB as hdd with Black Hole 3.0.9.C

Hi all
I am disappointed.
More than a year has passed since the release of Black Hole 3.0.9.C,
but the problem with mounting the flash drive is still not defeated.

I have two receivers: Vu+ Solo (GI-8180) and Vu+ Zero4K.
I do not want to connect the HDD, but I sometimes want to record programs and use the timeshift.
So I plug in the flash drive, format it, and mount it like a hard drive.
Then I connect via ftp and create "movie" and "timeshift" directories in "/media/hdd/".
And it all works great on Vu+ Solo. Including several partitions, with the placement of the swap file and OMB.

Nothing works on Vu+ Zero4K in Black Hole 3.0.9.C firmware.

1)
if you format a flash drive and mount it as HDD (media\hdd), after a reboot, this setting will be stupidly lost.
2)
if you mount the flash drive as USB (media\usb), then after reboot the setting will be saved, but ...
...if you specify the path "media\usb" in the Recording Settings, then it will write to the internal memory (2Gb)
3)
if more than one partition was selected during formatting, then only the first will be displayed in the device manager.

wtf?

This is strange. But, anyway, 309C has been updates a lot of times. If you can connect to the Internet, update it and try.
The fact is that, nowadays, not connecting a HDD to such boxes, it's a true pity: it is like having air conditioning and still use fans. ;)
I also assume you are using BH in flash, not from OMB, aren't you? Because BH installed in OMB has strange behaviours when it comes to mounting a HDD, sometimes.
You might also try OBH, instead of BH, even because it's more comfortable to manage any disks and devices to copy or use files.

All updates have been installed.
On Vu+ Solo, I use BH in OMB.
On Vu+ Zero4K, I use BH in flush.
Both receivers have Black Hole 3.0.9.C.

Judging by the screenshots, the guy has the same problem
http://www.vuplus-community.net/boa...ck-hole-image-3-0-8-c-installed-in-omb.38808/

I tried OBH instead of BH when looking for firmware for Vu+ Solo.
Despite all the claims, OBH had many bugs and was less stable. Therefore, I no longer consider OBH.

Trust me, I wiped the rearview mirror, I knocked on the tire, and I even climbed under the hood. The problem is with the firmware, not its usage.

1) If you have 309C you don't have the last update, whatever you say, because the last update is 309O.
2) I've been using OBH for many years, now and the bugs (possible in every images), actually, are very limited. What are supposed "all" these bugs you have? Lately, there is a problem only (and not always) about FullBackup. It's more likely that some dirty plugin you need is the cause, not the image. And an image must be used for WEEKS to be able to begin to understand it: it's an operative system, not a cartoon.
But, if you prefer BH at least update it.

Friend, you don't read carefully.
All updates have been installed. The last time I updated was yesterday, before trying again.

There is no 309O in this thread, initially I installed 309C, so I wrote about it.

I installed OBM on Vu+ Solo a year ago. This receiver is very memory critical. I don't remember the specific reasons for the errors, but I've seen enough brilliant green. And yes, I do not install unnecessary plugins, I delete the existing ones that I do not use.

Why breed holivar? Just try to mount the flash disk as hdd.

It was you to wrote, in post #3: "Both receivers have Black Hole 3.0.9.C".
So, if you first write "all updates have been installed" and after write so, what does it mean, logically speaking?
If you swap the sentences then it's different.

Incredible: so we still don't know, after so many posts, which exact version you are running at the moment. 309C? 309O? 305???
Are you able to read it from the Information menu of your image? Something like mine (I can't load BH at the moment, but the menu it's the same).

As you can see, our team tested it
Thanks to @levi
The only thing I can imagine
is that your USB stick has problems with the mount

I do not have such an old flash drive with such a small volume.
I checked it on another other flash drive. The result is just as bad.

Take a USB 3.1 at least 32 GB for check.

There seems to be a problem between the USB stick type and the box.
Not in USB size but USB type
I've tested it before with the Kingston USB stick with no problems.

Unfortunately I'm afraid there's no help here if the box doesn't recognize the USB stick
after restart.
I have the same kind of USB stick that doesn't work well with VU + boxes.
So that's not a general problem with all USB sticks..

Maybe you can try making a smaller partition with
FAT32 format and large with Linux format
and mount.
=============================================
As a point to remember: if your USB flash drive mounts as a UDISK on your computer, it means it’s a bad USB drive with firmware that doesn’t match the memory type and controller combination. The drive is saying it’s using flash memory, when in reality it’s just a small hard drive. Without the correct firmware in the controller, the USB stick is unstable and the operating system tips users about the problem by calling it a UDISK.
