You cannot mix images versions in Meoboot.

I don't understand, because through meoboot I can chose between flash (= 2.1.3 installed), Meoboot installed 2.1.4 or Meoboot installed 2.1.5 and all three work fine.
Why does the installed 2.1.6 not boot, Imho I'am not mixing but installing multiboot versions?

The rear mounted usb works as flash.

Installing image in meoboot as with versions 2.1.4 and 2.1.5, image doesn't boot at all on my Vu+ Duo
My "flash" is an external 4GB USB stick, as per instructions in this forum
So I rebooted in 2.1.5

Like Shiro said; "You must have same version in flash." First download new BH 2.1.6 and run it from flash, then activate Meoboot, then download again BH 2.1.6 and run it from Usb or HDD within Meoboot.
Like you said, instructions are on the forum....working everytime. Only problem is that you have to be careful which skin to use, not all are working.

The rear mounted usb works as flash.

For further explanation,

after installing 2.1.3 in flash I extended-flash as per forum instruction. Started meoboot and after that installed version 2.1.4 as well as 2.1.5 in this extended flash, only under meoboot. All three versions boot and run like charme.
Only this 2.1.6. version doesmn't boot after installinig under meoboot in the extended flash.

So I doent understand the difference between 2.1.6 and 2.1.4 resp. 2.1.5

I recalled my previous working methode:

As my flash is extended in /universe I rebooted through Meoboot into the original in flash installed version, which is 2.1.3
After that I open meoboot and install the 2.1.6.1 release which takes about 5 minutes. Original config settings are imported during installation.

The result is that I can now boot through meoboot into version 2.1.6.1 without having to install this version in flash as well as in meoboot and with the possibility to rollback to previous versions. This makes updates very easy and without the risk of a lot of work updating my Vu+ Duo

The difference between installed image in flash and one on USB
with Meoboot is that you continue to use drivers and kernel from image in flash and not from image on USB,Even when you use USB image you using kernel and drivers from flash image.
So if you have BH 2.1.3 in flash with old drivers and you use BH 2.1.6.1 on USB with new drivers you are not using this new drivers but old ones.

Open Multiboot is a better choice for Multiboot.
Each image uses its own drivers and its own kernel.

Thanks for this advice Matrix 10. This explanes things aren't optimal, so I'll try the open multiboot as suggested. Found clear instructions on openpli forum, formating usb, installing open multiboot and then installing new image.
