hi.. i have loaded the bootloader cfe solo 2.0 onto a fat32 formatted usb.. it resides in the solo directory.. i reboot solo unit with usb in the front or the rear.. the usb flashes momentarily and it continues to boot the unit normally... i intall a black hole image and still boots straight to device without loading image off the usb stick.. i have tried a different stick but to no avail.. is there a way to flash or reset the unit to remove the image presently residing on the unit? or does anyone know what may be the issue otherwise.. thanks

Hello, you have to use a flash drive 2 GB to 16 GB, it does not work with more capacity. It uses several pendrive, not all recognized in FAT32 format.

A greeting

Note: To flash the bootloader or a new image, you can´t have any usb device connected to your STB.

If this is the case ... disconnect all your USB devices ... and try again!

I can't believe such a simple task of reflashing the image via a USB stick has become an issue.. 4 different sticks from 2gb upwards formatted with fat 32 and different revision images applied.. surely there's a way to remove the image from internal memory as when manufactured ( blank unit).. then try to flash from scratch. I assume the boot sequence is USB then internal memory.. what determines this?.. on a pc you can change these settings via bios. . Does the vu have an option to do this.. telnet etc

I have 7 usb pen drives from 2gb, 4gb, 8gb and one of 16 gb ... no one of them have issues to flash my stb ... in case i own an vuplus duo2 stb and xtrend et9000 ... have flashed without any issues!
Are you sure you have disconnected from your stb all of yours usb devices ?
Are you using 2.0 usb pen drives or 3.0?
Are your solo an original vuplus stb or a clone one?

On the red line of your #1 post i can see you tell us that you have formated your usb device as fat32, and you said the files needed to upgrade the booloader are on the solo <folder> = <directory>.

1 - Format the usb pen drive as fat32 ...

2 - Extract the needed files to the root of your USB PEN DRIVE ....

The trace root must be --->

usb root -> vuplus -> solo -> ( files needed )

take a look here on how to proceed --> http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/howto-flash-update-vu-images.11819/

Thanks to Mito to this usefull post!

I think the flash memory ic on the mainboard must be corrupt. USB formatted with fat32.. files sit in vuplus/solo ffs files and bin file.. no other devices are linked to either USB port.. won't work in rear or front socket.. crazy

Try the files from the vuplus site:
Code:
http://vuplus.com/board/boardView.php?idx=5&pagenum=2
Code:
http://code.vuplus.com/

Can you please confirm that your receiver is an older VU+ Solo, and not a Solo 2, or Solo SE model.
