solo crashed

since my solo crashed, i had problems reloading the image, it had bh207. i wanted to install 209 but it wasnt stable enough, as it kept rebooting.
so i decided to go backwards, so i installed 179 from here.
it seems to be ok, when i open the plugins then yellow button for addon, there in nothing in there.
but other sections, eg settings are ok.
any ideas?

Images lower than 2.1.7 are out of support and are never updated .... You MUST update to latest image to get support or additional plugins.

Have you ever updated the bootloader, in your genuine VU+ Solo?
When you first power up, not from standby, you should see a CFE version, do you have the latest version?
Code:
http://vuplus.com/board/boardView.php?idx=5&pagenum=2

Have you ever updated it, since you got the receiver?
If your receiver is genuine, and a VU+ Solo, then you might as well update it, as you can't use any later Black Hole images without doing so.

so to recap, if i was to update bootloader from above, following the instructions via a usb stick.
then reformat the usb and install as normal a more recent image?
but how can i find out which bootloader is already installed?

On later models it's displayed on the receivers front display, but looking at original VU+ Solo receivers, I can't see any display, so check in the menu, look for information, and about, and see if the information is in there.
It is unlikely that it would have been updated.
