Solo4K bad wlan design?

Anyone looked inside a Solo4K and knows how the wlan antenna works? The receiver have a metal enclosure so how does the WiFi signal come out?

I can see that I have a proper signal in the wifi setup but after a while I cannot login to the receiver from the network and ping only gives sporadic answers.
Are the WiFi function terrible bad on the Solo4k in its design?

I need to have a WiFi AP next to the receiver to be able to sustain a connection for more than an hour.
Is is possible to detach a cable and connect an external wifi antenna or are everything boxed in and not accesable?

Yes, wifi seems to have good reach and initially it connects good (don't know hows thats possible) and have no problems login in to the Solo4k but it quickly decays and soon struggles with the data link
but the wlan info page says it is a good connection without errors. I have some weak signal from neighbours on the same channel, there are no completly free channels,
and as the info page says no errors it might be that error handling are missing and some buffer or memory fills up and then it's downhill from there.
I have an access point next to the receiver and there's no problem since then. I will book this as a bug in the wifi error handling in the BH image.

So, it's surely not a problem of WiFi signal and even if you had the chance of connecting an antenna would no nothing to solve the problem, don't you think?
Two possibilities are:
1) a HW failure in the VU+ HW (specifically the wifi components) which suffer from heat and degrade after a while (not very likely, but, you never know...)
2) It's the box that deteriorates its performances, maybe because there are two many plugins installed or some of them affects the box performances.

As there is no problem when I have a AP right next to the Solo4k the signal is error free and I have no problems.
If I try to use my normal AP from another room the signal is weaker and then the problem gets worse over time
and after some hours it is only a sporadic connection but the BH wlan info page in the Solo4k indicates good signal.

It is a signal strenght / error handling problem, don't you think?
If I have a better antenna in the Solo4k that gives a better signal strenght the problem might be solved, don't you think?
If there where hardware problem with overheating and such it would also affect the situation with a strong signal, don't you think?
If there where a cpu/memory starvation problem due to too many apps loaded, it would show a problem independent of signal strenght, don't you think?
