Hi Everyone, 9 hours ago while I was watching the recorded Tv series and having timer recording at the same time. The audio suddenly change to a Tv channels but the video is still at the recorded Tv series. I tried many ways to get to stop the audio from that TV channel but to no avail. They are as follows,

1. Go to different channels

2. Switch to Youtube Tv

3. Go to any settings in Blackhole

4. Switch to any plugin

I guess the only thing I could do is to switch off the electrical supply but I can’t as it is still doing timer recording at that time. This happens previously but it was set back correctly when do a channel change.

My Duo2 is using the latest Blackhole image v3.0.4.c and there are only 2 plugins which is screen grabber and dream explorer. Both are installed from blackhole.

Please help!

Is it because of using a skin called, “Army Dark Sky ” which is for Blackhole image v3.0.3 and not for v3.0.4.c?

How are your audio set up? You send the audio through HDMI to the tv set and use the tv speakers?
Do you have HDMI-CEC enabled?
What do you see with yellow button, in the audio selection?
Is this all satellite channels or a mix with a ip-tv stream?
What audio selections do you have in your tv?
You can try and pull the HDMI cable and put it back again to check if the problem goes away.

Hi Blarren, thanks for the reply! I shall answer as follows,

1. How are your audio set up? Audio & Video setting is Hdmi but the connection from Stb to TV is Rca, because I am using an old Tv. If use the Rca setting, after reboot, there will be no image at all.

2. You send the audio through HDMI to the tv set and use the tv speakers? Yes

3. Do you have HDMI-CEC enabled? No

4. What do you see with yellow button, in the audio selection? It is default setting, didn’t adjust any

5. Is this all satellite channels or a mix with a ip-tv stream? Totally cable and no Iptv and no cam

6. What audio selections do you have in your tv? Normal stereo

Please advice

It is strange that you do not get any signal from RCA connectors when you choose that interface. That is probably the source of the problem.

Maybe the RCA setting is not tested enough by the black hole people as you are probable one of very few that uses that connector.
Normally with this advanced box you use a modern hdmi tv with big screen to fully appreciate the expensive Duo2 box.
I guess the image firmware get all mixed up when the rca are selected and it is not tested properly by developer or even not supported.
Have you read the release notes from your image to see if they have made support for rca output?

I think so, in fact many other images do not support Rca too except OpenPLi. A Master in OpenPLi or OpenVix, can’t remember correctly, told me PLi find the driver or image that Vu+ had developed are all a mess, so they rewrite the whole thing. Therefore only PLi image is able to use Rca output.

I agrees, should be using a more advance Hdmi Tv, but I feel so wasted if I don’t use it, they are big and heavy but they are the quite famous model during those time. I guess I would not have any opportunity using an Hdmi Tv in this lifetime anymore because I got one more sitting in another room doing nothing.

Actually I do not know I must use the Hdmi setting even if it’s an Rca output Tv. I was informed by a Master in this forum, so thankful to him. If not I would have not much image to use.

Vu+ the manufacturer should be blame fully for this, they make a Duo2 with Rca output but didn’t get their master or those from github.com to develop a proper driver for the Duo2’s Rca output. I can’t stop thinking it’s very unfair. I paid real $ for a first-hand good but an incomplete one. Thinking of this makes me feel so badly cheated.

I had read from the Blackhole & OpenBlackhole image pages and also in Stb @ Menu>Information, none talk about the Rca output. Where is this release notes you are talking about?

On second thought, it may not be this reason because I had downgraded the image to Blackhole v3.0.3 and it works fine. Except sometime when I am at the movie list page, select a movie to watch, and the movie open up in a small window, the screen is something like when you press the up/down button in Tv mode.

Any idea how to solve this in Blackhole V3.0.4?

I have never seen RCA support a HD picture. They are usually for analog 480 or 576 lines resolution. But I see in the user manual that the original software supports 720p and even 1080i with RCA connectors.
I guess black hole people messed it up and never tested it. You have to alert them somehow. I guess they are on Github and you can write a bug report there.
To get it solved and as you have several tv sets with RCA you could get a HDMI to RCA converter for $25. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/hdmi-to-5-rca-component

I did, that’s why that master told me to use Hdmi as output.

Thanks I will make a report at Github.

Yes I do have and had burnt out 2 pcs. This gadgets doesn’t last, it burns out easily. Thanks again for the advice and seller info.

You are very helpful.

They burn out because there might be a voltage difference between tv set and sat box ground.
Cheaper equipment have no protection for voltage spikes from connectors.
Try and always have your devices using the same ground. Computers, satbox, tv set, HiFi stereo and other things.
Best way is to connect a cable between the devices ground, on a screw connected to chassi and the cable has
a quick disconnect connector so you can move equipment around when necessary.
If you always have at least one signal cable always connected it will also be ok as long as you do not remove all cables.
You can also pull the power leads before connecting any cables but it is easily forgotten and the seperate ground lead
is an easier solution.

Hi Blarren, I had found a few websites in Github about Blackhole image and Vuplus community as per below, any idea which one would it be?

https://github.com/popazerty/blackhole-vuplus

https://github.com/kingvuplus/openblackhole-enigma2-1

https://github.com/search?utf8=✓&q=vuplus-community&type=

https://github.com/search?utf8=✓&q=blackhole+image&type=

https://github.com/search?utf8=✓&q=blackhole&type=

If you have time could you tell me how to go about making the report?

Thanks very much

Best Regards

It's hard to find them on Github. Make a request for RCA support in this forum http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/black-hole-3-0-4-c-vu-duo2.34692/
But they say they give no guarantees so I suppose they do not wish to spend time on someting they do not really understand just to support one guy.
The developers are spending their free time coding the image and get no pay for it, just complaints from users that something does not work.
I do not know why they do it, but cudos to them.

Have you tested original image that came with the box so you know that it is actually working with HD RCA?

Just make a full backup to USB memoey stick and you will be able to restore exactly to what you have now
and you can test whatever you like and then quickly restore. You only need to install the original image and
conect RCA and try to set the A/V resolution between different settings to try, no need to connect to streams or satellite.

Said that I tried the original image only once and only in multiboot, It can't format your HDD without your consent. It surely must've asked you to initialise it, has it?
