Black Hole 3.0.6 Vu+ Ultimo4K

There was another sound glitch when watching satellite channels (SD or HD). It is evident when you set the video output as 2K. At some time the sound starts mute itself periodically for 0.5 seconds every 15 seconds or so. Once it starts, it continues on all channels until shutdown. I look only 1 channel on universal LNB and do not do other things, so it is simple single-process watching TV.
I think that this receiver is not powerful enough for 4K.
Or the firmware is buggy. This was on 3.0.5, this continues on 3.0.6.
Workaround: switch to Full HD (1080P). This is shame to downscale the signal between 4K receiver and 4K TV!

Possible solution: I have bought a 4K HDMI cable. Since then i cannot reproduce the glitch. Maybe this was low quality HDMI cable?

Or maybe the cable was damaged in some way, there are good and bad quality HDMI cables but performance is not very different from a £5 cable to a £25 cable. In the past with scart or YPbPr you got big improvements with cable quality and cost but no longer the case.

Blackhole is not the best image for media playback, it is restricted by what codec's vu+ support in there git.

Blackhole is good for just watching satellite tv.

If you want the best media playback, then you are better off using the OBH image (that is why we created it).

There are 2 images for a reason, we didn't do it just because we could.

If both images did exactly the same thing, then we would only need 1 image.

Does OBH Image support HD sound like Dts X and Dolby Atmos?

Hi,
I'd like to know if there is a way to configure BH to have the followin behavior :
when you display the list of channels, if you clic on a channel then the list disappear and channel picture comes in full screen.
What I'd like is : when I clic on a channel, then the channel change in the small window preview and if I clic a second time on the same channel then it becomes in full screen.
This will allow to zap in a fast way in the channel list.
But may be this is something that should be implemented on a skin ? if so, is there any skin that offers this behavior ?
Thanks for the work done.

I don't have BH installed at the moment, not even in multiboot, because I'm now exclusively using OpenBlackHole.
In OBH this is exactly how it behaves: the first OK click changes the PiG preview, the second (on the same channel) exits the preview and plays the channel in full screen.
Maybe you can give OBH a try, also taking advantage of multiboot in case, so to have BH in flash and OBH in OMB.
Only, as an image it's a Operative System, if you really want to find out the many differences, your try should last for some days, at least!
If you don't know OBH, I wrote a small article to summarise the most important differences: you can find it here

I installed OBH 4.2 and I have to say that I like it very much. It offers a lot more customizable features and the channel list behave indeed as I like.
The only thing I miss for the moment is the quad PIP... May be it will be implemented in the future.
Another point I have notice is that when you change some user interface parameters, they don't apply immediatly and you have to restart the GUI (called Enigma 2 in OBH) to see the changes.
Thanks again.

It's on the feeds, under systemplugins
Ah ok. Thanks. It was in a plugin not installed by default.
I installed it but I still have the same problem with Quad PIP. Not all 4 channels appear on the screen eventhough the recording of the 4 channels works well... I really don't see where the problem is... I continue searching.
Anyhow I'm definitly convinced to switch to OBH. Furthermore the samba protocol is updated which allows me to access the hardrive directly from Windows 10 explorer, which was impossible with BH before (still SAMBA 1... that windows 10 refuses for security reasons).
