Image Update Question

Hi;
When updating an image, do all plugins / addons also get updated to latest version if available?

In the case of youtube this does not happen, between other (s) ... I think in none. I think this would only be possible when accessing a plugin and it had prepared to inform the existence of an update to this one. Surely someone around here might say something more about it.

As written hundreds of time, we must understand very well the difference between these two completely different things: update and upgrade.
An update means you stay in the same version and, indeed, some components are updated. So if you have BH 309, after the update you still have BH309. Only, for instance, BH309A was updated to BH309B.
Updates DOES NOT affect anything of your configuration.
An upgrade is a new install, like when you format a PC and then you install an operative system from scratch. So there is a change of version: if you had OBH 4.1.xxx you install OBH 4.2.xxx.
So, obviously, upgrades imply you loose everything, settings (channels and bouquets) and plugins and their configuration.
You can, then, save at least your settings but you cannot save plugins. I add, that every attempts I made in the past to use the Personal Backups (backup of settings) just to migrate more quickly from a version to another, failed. So I gave up even trying. When I perform an upgrade I simply reinstall everything.
So, don't mistake updates for upgrades or viceversa.

Not,
additions only if they are a part of the image.
And they have official Update in VU + or Black Hole coding.
Which does not have to be the last version.

Everything else you have to update yourself.
Whether from the BH plugin server ,forum or from other sources.

That's what I figured out ...

It would always be the responsibility of those who develop a plugin, but it would be possible that when using a plugin, this being outdated, the plugin gives an alert for the existence of an update to this?

We do not make plugins.
This is a question for plugins authors.
Some plugins have their updating/autoupdating system.

Yes, that's basically it ... that's what I've highlighted. It would be great if all plugins could have this option. However, it's great to have the plugins!

I do not 100% command the English language!

No they DON'T .. damned ANNOYING !!!!!!
Updating to OpenPli 7.0 brough all sorts of problems with it !!!

I'm STILL having problems I can't solve MONTHS later :furious::furious::furious:

The list of plugin's/addons is available and should be tested BEFORE doing a release and automatically updated where necessary.
The LEAST that should be done, is WARN you of plugins/addons that will have problems BEFORE you update, instead of suddenly having problems AFTER the update.

As it now is, it doesn't give confidence at all in updating.

1) Here we give support to BH and OBH, not to OpenPli, not because we are bad, but because this is the forum about our images. YOu must ask support for OpenPli to their forum.
2) Plugins are NOT part of an image: they are created and developed by their authors: it's their duty to keep them updated and compatible with more recent images, not the other way round.
So, ask their authors to fix your problems.

I know we dont and should not give support for any images that are not built by Team Blackhole. But to be honest when it comes to OBH
when you open regular Plugin menu, not greenpanel but from main menu. And you choose download plugin with green button
a lot of PLI stuff is there. So its easy for new beginners to get confused.

And i agree with David. Plugin in the feeds should be safe to use.
So David change image to OBH allways download your plugins from GreenPanel>>Addons never from the regular Plugin menu.
and you can be sure all plugin works just fine with your image.
