Media Player - Black screen

Hi All,
I recently installed a new 4K box most used as media player.
I'm experiencing a problem reproducing some videos, the screen is black, the audio it's OK, so it mean at least the box is reading correctly the file. (no matter both old or new videos have the same issue)

The old Zero+ do not have this problem, the videos are reproduced very well.

I've installed Media Player 2 (as usual) but the problem persists.

It seems like a codec or something like that is missing in order to decode the video.

Is there some plugins or do you have hint in let me solve the problem?

Thanks

New 4k boxes from vu dont support xvid, divx codecs. Quite a problem if you have many old files.

Done, Player is working fine but the files are not decoded anyway.
It seems the player use the provided codecs too.

An extreme solution could be encode the files on a readable format, I think it will take a wile :)

Well, surely you can recode them by Handbrake but it needs time. It would be interesting to see if you are able to play them by OBH, with or without the ServiceApp + Exteplayer3 installed.
If you know how to take advantage of Multiboot install, you may keep BH in flash and try OBH 4.3 in OMB.

I will try ASAP and let you know.

Try and install the plugin ServiceApp and use Exteplayer3 as the default player.
And, anyway, AVI, MP4 and the absurd WMV that only win uses, are not all the same: a video file is not like a .doc, .xls and so on.
The extension is not the only factor but it's important to see what codec has been used to create them. Only .avi is a bit different but even this kind of video file may give different results.
I find strange, anyway, you can't play even mp4, unless they are encoded with some strange codec.

And, last but not least, what VU+ do you have? If you don't have a 4K one and your files are HEVC-265, you won't never be able to play them in a mipsel box (like Duo2, Solo and so on). Only 4K models are able to decode H265.

Hello! Thanks for your response which prompted me to do more research on the subject. OK, you are right about the differents codecs used for the same extension.

So I did file conversions through Format-Factory or Vlc or ...

And now I am able to read them on my Vu + Duo 4K under Blackhole 3.0.9

Thanks again. Regards.

I didn't understand (as you didn't tell us... ;) ) that you converted your files.
In this case, even if VLS is able to do that somewhat, there the prince of videoconverters that's Handbrake: it exists for all the O.S.
It might be a bit difficult, at the beginning, but there isn't anything so complete and powerful like it. And, of course, it's for free.
