Hi hope someone can help. first time poster. Just bought a new STB & HD.

I have a WD AV 1TB 2.5" WD10JUCT installed into my Uno 4k SE (the pull out bracket on rear). Now this drive cannot be seen by OBH, BH 3.0.9.E Multi image or OpenATV (Tried various images). It cant be seen in Device manager / Hard Disk Manager etc. Cant initialise it. However if I connect it to my icydock adapter & mount as USB no problem. It can also be seen connected to a PC. Tried formatting Ext4, Fat32, exfat, MBR/GPT but just cant been seen internally.
I dont have another 2.5" drive to try internally. Was gonna to telnet into my STB tonight using Kitty & see if I can format/mount it manually. (any tips appreciated). If that does not work I will be lost. Any suggestions or help is appreciated, is there any known problems with this particular drive?

When i did fit it to the bracket found it hard to actually slot into the bay. Had to loosen one screw slightly so its not tight to the bracket. But it does fit.

What's its height? If I'm not wrong, you can't connect there a 12mm height HDD.
Probably, you believe it's connect to the sata port, but it might be not.

Now you worry me ... I have here a WD 1TB (WD10SPZX-60Z10T0) to put in a Uno 4KSE and the only one that had as reference was 2.5 "... not all the same thickness?

Well, I went to get the caliper, it's 7mm thick ...

No, they are not all the same thickness. But 7mm it's the standard. So, it's not that the issue.
A question: is this the first HDD you try to connect internally? Because, if other ones have worked, even this one should. Otherwise...

I have no problem connecting the disk internally. I have one on Uno 4K SE and once had one on Solo2. I really thought the measurements were standardized ...

This 1TB disc is still wrapped, has never been used ... either goes to Uno 4K SE or a new Vu that I am considering purchasing.

Why don't you open the box and see if the HDD is connected properly ?

It may be a problem to trigger the warranty if you still have it and need it ...

Its thickness is 9.5mm maybe this is just too much & does not quite connect properly. Heard somewhere 9mm was the max.

Tried telnet it could not see the device what so ever so its a physical thing.

Yes Im worried about warranty if I open the box so will try & get hold of a spare 2.5 drive from some where first. In the mean time I may just put the drive in a caddy & use externally as I cant really send it back now. Thanks for all your help. Yes this was the first drive I tried.

My next port of call is to find a decent 2.5 7-9mm AV drive which seems almost impossible as nearly all the new AV (media) drives are 3.5"

UPDATE

Looked under the hood & found the problem was a loose pin connecting the HDD to the motherboard. It is now working with my drive without problem. Just needed to reinsert the red pin correctly as it was loose. Found it best to connect the screws to the tray on the underside rather than side too.

I can confirm that 9.5mm drive does work with the Uno 4k SE. The WD AV 1TB 2.5" WD10JUCT is a good choice.

You don't loose the warranty just opening a box: were there any seals over the screws? No, they weren't. So, the producers can't know if you opened it.
