Open BlackHole Online Update

Usually I perform the update by telnet by
opkg update && opkg upgrade
and then
reboot
or, altogether, opkg update && opkg upgrade && reboot.

But this time I tried only the
opkg upgrade
command and it worked the same.
What's the role of opkg update exactly, then? If I'm not wrong, it seems only to check if new updates are available, without neither downloading nor installing them.
So, if I'm right, when there aren't new updates, the two commands
opkg update && opkg upgrade
or the simple
opkg update
do exactly the same... that is nothing, because there's nothing to update and it reports "Updated source". Is that correct?
May we do just opkg upgrade to skip the first step?
Just a curiosity, though...

Todays little update shows, in the end of the process, these lines:

Existing conffile /etc/fstab is different from the conffile in the new package.
The new conffile will be placed at /etc/fstab-opkg.
Existing conffile /etc/shells is different from the conffile in the new package.
The new conffile will be placed at /etc/shells-opkg.
Existing conffile /etc/nsswitch.conf is different from the conffile in the new package.
The new conffile will be placed at /etc/nsswitch.conf-opkg.

Now, comparing old and new files, I see that:

1) fstab is different only from line 6 on because, obviously, the new file does not have my mounts. So, I'll leave the old one untouched.
2) the two nswitch files are almost identical except one line, the hosts one. In the old file I have:

hosts: files llmnr_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns llmnr
in the new just this:
hosts: files dns

3) The old shells has got 2 entries, that's one more:
/bin/bash

which the new one does not have. So the questions are:

a) why this time the update needed to change these files and not leaving are they were, as in past updates (obviously, maybe I didn't noticed in the past similar messages).
b) It is advisable to replace the nsswitch with the new one?
c) I'd leave the shells file as it is now: I believe I added the line in the past for some reason I can't remember, surely due to some script that needed it... After all, two options are better than one only, aren't they? ;)

I have VU UNO
Something is wrong with update 4.3.024, because I stuck at "starting enigma2..."
I have SSH/FTP access, but I can not start enigma2
Probably one of previous update was problematic, because uno start reporting hdd:ERROR and I have serious troubles with hdd.
I revert back to my backup 4.3.018 and hdd is OK.

Test: clean install 4.3.015 and upgrade to latest 4.3.0024 Result: not working
I attached upgradelog and dmesg.
I can help with troubleshooting, give me some commands or what files you need.

yesterday I updated 4.3.024, after the update MediaPortal was no longer possible.
I had to import 4.3.015 image, now I'm waiting for the next update.

Thanks a lot

Threre´s no issue with MediaPortal, reinstall it or ask the author ( dev ) to fix it!

I prefer to wait for the next update. Because I don't want to reinstall everything from the beginning. I had already tried to uninstall and reinstall MediaPortal.
No success.

Thank you

It's funny that each time a third-party plugin has an issue, it's considered responsible the image for that. It would be like if you change your brand of fuel and the car doesn't work well any longer, the responsible is the car, unable to adapt to the different fuel's brand.
Consider, also, that if really this plugin wasn't compliant to the image updated because in the image changed something (because this is how it would be: it's the plugin to be worried about being compliant, not the other way round), 95% it won't be compliant any longer because, usually, once a change is introduced, it's uncommon the image gets back...
But the hope is the last to die.

I agree with Alexwilmac's questions. Very strange changes (it kills uno).

Consistent update available (at least for Solo4K, but probably for other boxes too), but still about the .024 release.
