OpenBH 4.3 Vu+ Duo2

You are not so new to this forum to know that there is a very effective alternative way to update:
use telnet/ssh command

opkg update && opkg upgrade

and then (after this command ends)
reboot

Maybe, if you had told us also what version do you get from info, it'd be useful ;)

Hi Alexwilmac, thank you for your quick reply & solution. I do not know there is another such method of updating. I try it out. Best Regards

Hi Alexwilmac, using your recommended method. Before update the firmware is openbh 4.3.037 (2020-07-12), Kernel/Drivers: 3.13.5/20190429. After update is still the same and I notice it started failing from line 252 onwards. After reboot, I update again and the failure seem the same which started from line 252. I had made a copy in the attached document. Please help

Never had this error: this is matter for coders.
And, just to be sure: did this happen after a clean install in flash? Did you download the image from this forum or elsewhere? Because this is the only official forum for OpenBlackhole.

The test yesterday was on a clean image with no backup restoration. The test results I submitted earlier was on my backup image but this image also has got no plugin in it except for necessary setting that needed to set-up, a Obh skin and restore a recording timer file, that’s all.

Yes, all Obh images are downloaded from this website.

It's not clear: have you ever tried the command line in a clean image? A backup is absolutely not reliable! It's not only because a plugin that an image may be faulty.

So, the ONLY reliable try is to have a clean image and immediately update it.

I had flash a new image with no restoration of backup and the result is still the same, getting errors from line 255 onwards by using Putty as per attached. Please help

Try and change your DNS in the Network settings; you can try the OpenDNS

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

or the not privacy respectful Google ones, just to see what happens,

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

or also
1.1.1.1
1.1.0.0

It would be also interesting to check if the same happens with other images, starting from BH.

Have you tried the telnet commands, to update?
http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/open-blackhole-online-update.35824/

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If not then the problem must lie at your end, try disconnecting your internal hard drive, if you have one connected, and any USB device, connected to your receiver, then try flashing a clean image, and see if it updates.

The Open Black Hole team are busy, at the moment.

Yes, he tried, after my post#61

@bumperbee
You absolutely need to try another image, starting from BH because, if also that one has the same issue, it would be very likely that the problem is caused by your provider or your country.
After BH, as second try, it'd be important to try OpenViX. Then report.

Hi Mick12334, thank you for the advice. I did removed the harddisk (no flashdrive connected) before flashing with a clean image but sadly, it is still the same.

@Alexwilmac, ok I try again

I can confirm the same problem: impossible to update OBH via menu or telnet.
Changed DNS, no difference.

In telnet I get the same multiple error messages at the end, "wget returned 8".

From the menu the update fails in the backup part (it stays indefintely at 46%) and if I uncheck the backup option, it doesn't do anything.

I'm on:
Sistema OE: OE-Alliance 4.3
Versione firmware: openbh 4.3.019 (2020-03-12)
Kernel / Drivers: 3.13.5 / 20190429

I don't know if it's related, but I receive an error updating iSttings2, too.

Maybe (just maybe) there is a problem in the OBH server and, as you @bumperbee and @duetto , had not immediately updated your images in the past weeks, you don't succeed in doing it now.
Anyway, probably won't be important... in the near future ;)

It still seems to me that the problem is on the server side.
Namely, some files and updates are without problems in log files
which means the connection is OK.
I hope @Ev0 finds a reason.

I have Vu duo2. I installed from crash the latest image OpenBH 37 and I am still not able to update the image. I used the telnet command to update and no success. All time I have 79 paquets available after the update.
