What a complication! Which disks would you like to have in raid or in software array and managed by such an OS??? Thse things under a OS dedicated to a PVR seem to me not really appropriate. There are very comfortable NAS for these purposes.

mmm I disagree: vu + (like others) is a device that is always active in stand-by, predisposed to nfs and samba sharing, easily manageable remotely ... imagine connecting a fantec hdd bay or a USB 3.0 port icy box bay with 4 disks + 1 inside the vu +, and configure a simple software raid ... result: nas-like. If there is a section requests I know that I will propose it.

I believe that the term "nas" is very inflated nowadays, just think of the main use made of it: you get excellent results with a simple Raspberry or a modest device with openwrt on, and honestly our vu + have nothing less than those
