the actual question of the title of the topic

why usb flash media in blachhole formatted as ext4 - which is a journaled file system (as ext3) and by which the life of the stick significantly reduced!

Why not make for usb flash drives formatted in ext2????

You said that stick life is a noticeably shortened.
But I still do not have any one (several of them) that is broken.

But I understand your question

I am also interested in this question:

Why having a fast enough stick Patriot XT Rage 16 Gb: real read ~ 30 MB / s, write 15 MB / s are observed freezes when playing recorded shows from the tuner in HD, in which the bit rate does not exceed 10-15 Mbit / s

I might even agree, if a flash drive with read / write speed: 10/5 MB / s , but ...

p.s. latest drivers, fpga similar. uno

I think the problem is a different nature
and that is the hardware limitations and not the way in which the stick is formatted.

I do not know because I have not tested with a fast flash drive.
But to my knowledge no one has got a good result
with HD at all E2 boxes.

100% working Transcend JF600 16 Gb - any video is played, as recorded by the tuner, as well as any written to the stick.

Well if so,
So what's the problem ??

USB stick ??
one has a good performance and the other does not

PC Test for stick Patriot XT Rage 16 Gb
I consistently measured about 15 MB/s write speeds. The drive is supposed to have more like 25 MB/s writes.

I suspect that perhaps some of incompatibility Controller Phison 251-38 (2238) in the Patriot with drivers in the BlackHole.
в Transcend JF600 16 Gb = Controller Alcor

p.s. I wrote real a read / write speed for a Patriot

the problem is that the speed is enough but eventually get friezes

It is said that EXT2 is faster but less stable than EXT3.

At least in the past, ext2 was good for time shift, but ext3 was much "safer" for recorded movies on HDD.

I've just found this thread here. This might be the best place to raise my question:

Hello,

I want to be able watch "recordings" out of the vu+ ultimo's local network. I want to be able to record directly into the GB microSD card which is recognized by both vu ultimo and rest of the devices listed below.

My issue is related to file transfer media used for that purpose. I want to be able to watch all those "recordings" from
1-Samsung galaxy sIII android cell phone
2-Asus google nexus 7" tablet
3-Apple ipod touch
4-Fly auto navigation system dvd player

I have already been able to transfer "recordings" by connecting to vu+ ultimo over "wireless ftp" while I am in the same network by using a pc to be able to write the "recordings" to a flash usb/microSD card formatted for "windows" or "android" systems instead of linux file systems. But this is taking too much time compared to directly copying "recordings" by vu+ ultimo does itself. (connect flash usb/microSD card directly to vu+ device if it's in recognized file system format like /ext2 )

Appreciate all your help.

Thanks,
Soner
