1.6.5 to 1.7.6 ..getting worse

Hi, I have my Vu Duo for almost a year now and started with BH 1.6.5. At the beginning I installed a lot which resulted in crashes every day, finally at 1.6.6. I ended with SV, cool guide, time shift that's it.

With 1.6.6 occasionally the box was slow in starting in the morning, say ones a week, so I had to switch on off the get it running properly. With every new Image it got worse and worse.

Now with 1.7.6 it doesn't want to start normally in the morning, which can take up to 30 minutes if I don't do hard. Doese anyone else have this problem ?

Would love to give one, but it is not crashing. It just takes ages to start from standby in the morning and even if it starts it is soo slow that its unusable. Normally only a hard reset, off switch, will make it run normal.

If nobody else has this problem, then it is probably me, this however is strange because I haven't installed anything different as before. I thought it would run better now with a big portion stored on the USB, keeping flash at 65%.

Do you have this problem if you disconnect USB devices or your HDD ?

Have upgraded the bootloader of your box prior to flash the new image?

And as I have told, it should be pointed out with every new image that you need the new bootloader (with link and information)
I know its need, but I did forget it when I upgraded my friends Duo...

Bootloader update is neede one time when it's released.
If you have already updated the bootloader, you don't need to flash it a second time.

Hi, the bootloader upgrade I did at the beginning, I will try to start without USB but I don't understandw hy this could be the problem now, also it ruins the new BH concept

I know that you need it only once, but its not easy to know if you get a used box in your hands, that you does not boot before you upgrade it.
Its then more easy to remind all that this image needs new bootloader, and to try an upgrade if you are not sure.

After playing around a little, I noticed that switching of swap improves things a lot, I hope it stays that way.

Swap solved the fast start in the morning, but epg was still not loading. Even after a complete reinstall, including the unnecessary bootloader upgrade, it is still not ok. EPG is not loading, deleted old epg etc with no improvement. At the EPG download the system crashes and generates a 100 pages crash log, not sure if I should post it here.

I think I go back to 1.7.4 which was a little more stable.

Anyone has any ideas.?

What EPG are you using Vilem? I'm using CrossEPG (Opentv providers) and it works flawlessly. Got it set so it downloads new epg 4 am every morning.
Are you sure you have set it to download to your hard drive or usb stick?
Would be worthwhile posting your crash logs so the experts can comment.

I just did, again, a complete reinstall like above, same plugins, settings, picons and CrossEPG setting, but this time using the 1.7.4 image. Now everything works, EPG is updating etc.

I think this clearly is an Image issue, I hope the developers can look into this.

If I have swap disabled I do not have a fully populated program guide. I pull UK and French. Afer about a week thebox slows almost to a halt. A reboot resolves the problem.
I intended to run a cron to have the box reboot daily - is that a good idea and what would the command be - Do I need to use something like *******?

. Exactly the same problem I had, for me going back to 1.7.4 solved the EPG problems. Swap again now enabled on USB. Will give you a feedback during the week about the startup problems or hopefully not. I glad to hear I'm not the only one.

hello to you all,

i also have the same problem and a couple of others too.
for my personal point of view since Bh started with multi universe .
i noticeed that with 1.7.2 it is much more stable.

I then decided to test other image and finally installed since a couple of weeks Black-pole
and everything is working fine , where i had problem with EPG it is solved, with a lot of plug-ins i
also had a lot of problem now it is fine.
it is clear that i was used toBH like many people, but everybody has to test several image to finally
installed the one that suits best .

I'm really happy with the BH images too bad this latest release isn't working for me. The 1.7.4 running without problems, starting quickly out of standby in the morning, so I'll stick with this till the next release.

As stated before I hope the developers look into this and get it solved at the next release.
