Auto-resolution: how it works?

Hi all,

from settings I enabled auto-resolution and I expected that output video mode should be changed in accord to video content, but this does not happen.
Do I have to set something else?

cause upscaling directly TV it's sure better than from any other video source

I've been using it some years ago but it was cause of some issues and unexpected results. So, I perfectly live without it.
But you can do some experiments yourself to see how it works.
