audio problems on free to air channels

first can i ask has anyone else had this happen? or knows what
is causing this problem and if it can be fixed, this is the problem
i have a duo2 it's about 4 years old and it has now developed
a audio problem that causes the speech to break up as if the
microphone is being turned on and off and the sound cuts out
at times even the screen has frozen a odd times it is mainly on
sky news on thor 0.8 west sat other tp's on the same frequency
work first class this also happens on other sats fta chns,
i have tried both tuner A and B and get the same result, i havn't
opened the receiver as apart from the obvious burnt or blown caps etc:
and seeing everything else works first class and that makes me think that
had anything like this happened i would have a lot more problems
i did wonder if it was the tuner? but surely i would get problems on all sats
and channels, and as this problem is worst on thor 0.8w is anyone else
getting very poor audio on their receivers i had wondered if it's bad weather
from the area thor 0.8w gets the services uploaded from
i have tried a few different images and have factory reset / loaded the
official image from VU downloads before each image and i still have the problem
i hope i dont have to get a new receiver,but if it cant be fixed that will be my next move

It seems quite strange that an audio issue is possible only in some transponders. It appears, based on what you write, to be a signal problem, although it should affect also video quality in case. Anyway, you can check it by yourself with the signal finder plugin or with the same GUI on (it might be useful to set it not disappearing after some seconds to have time to observe the signal).

thanks for your input, from my position i get 99% signal on thor 1w
as i do on most sats except 4.8e where i get 70% and 7w i get 60%
this has only stared in the last couple of weeks and is very strange as
it's on free to air channels and sky news on 12.417-v-27999 settings
is the worst of the channels i'm having problems with. there are not many
channels open on this frequency as channels have moved to canal digital nordic
and i'm told these channels are not available in the uk, even though they still have
a very strong signal, this is not the problem i do not have access to these channels
so i cant say how many encrypted channels on the satellites also have this audio problem
other free to air channels on this transponder are algazeera and cgtn news and cgtn documentary chn and these channels clear are first class with crystal audio, thats why i asked if anyone else was having audio problems as i dont know where thor 1w uplinks these channels from and wondered if adverse weather could be causing the audio problem as the video quality is spot on, so i do get the impression it's not a signal or tuner problem. thats why i also asked could it be something failing on the boards in the box. this receiver gets a very good signal from nile sat at 7w the only problem i have with this sat is if we get heavy rain hitting the dish face i loose the signal just more info i use a 1.2 meter dish on a 36v super jack that hits it's target and has been tweaked for the best signal on the weakest chn
on every sat.

Consider that not every channels from a specific satellite have the same signal. Each transponder (i.e. frequency) is different. So, basing on Kingofsat or similar websites, you can list channels and see if the same problems occur for same transponders.
Actually, the best try would be with a different decoder in your place.
