I have a tuoro hitachi 4TB hdisk - ntfs formatted. This contains all our personal home videos which I wish to access/view from the VU+ Duo box directly on my HD TV. But when mounting, it says cannot mount partition - do you want to initialise? Pls help whether BH is compatible with such a large disk? Also if it is possible to WRITE PROTECT this disk if mounted?

There is a tutorial showing hhow to mount NTFS disks in the Board.

Tks Evergreen - but after trying the tutorials out except for the editing of fstab - I have no luck. The file edit step is only if i want to make it permanent? I keep getting permission denied or disk not mounted.

When you edit your /etc/fstab, it's permanently

I have been unsuccessful - inspite of the tutorial and other various comments. my fdisk -l gives:
root@bm750:~# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 2000.3 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 243201 1953512028+ 83 Linux
Note: sector size is 4096 (not 512)

Disk /dev/sdb: 4000.7 GB, 4000786149376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60800 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 4096 = 65802240 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 60800 3907007748 7 HPFS/NTFS

The LS /media gives:
root@bm750:~# ls /media
bhbackuptmp dlna mmc1 personal realroot usb
card downloads music photo union usb9
cf hdd net ram upnp video

Now when I mount, I get:
root@bm750:~# mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usb
mount: mounting /dev/sdb1 on /media/usb failed: Invalid argument

I cannot seem to be able to mount usi ng the LABEL function as it does not seem to be supported by Blackhole. I also ntfsfix the disk just in case.

Pls advise what else I can do to access my sdb1 disk of videos.

I haven't the link of original thread BUT you MUST use NTFS-3G to mount your NTFS 4Tb partition.
Make a search with "NTFS-3G" keyword. I don't remember the correct syntax for fstab file.

Tks very much.......it Worked first time. The command line I used was just:
"ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /media/usb9"
I of course created a new media device called usb9 prior to doing this.
thanks again.

As mentioned I have only "mounted" my disk using the command shown above. But I have not yet inserted this into my fstab file - as I have not had the time to search for the exact syntax on doing that. So I have been manually mounting this whenever I need.
