Since my last problem in September last year I have managed to reset my Vu+ Solo2 with two satellite feeds, both 28.2E and the recording problems disappeared. I am operating with Blackhole 2.0.6.3 and have been using a Rytec EPG downloaded to an internal HDD on a daily basis. I have been recording individual programmes and weekly episodes of series using the timer without much of a problem until March this year. It was then that I started having problems with the EPG and the timer recording – the timing may be coincidental but I suspect they are linked.
First of all, the EPG stopped downloading on a daily basis. I consulted the forum and discovered that others were having similar problems, so I switched to a crossepg provider, which did the trick for a while. At about the same time, some of the programmes I had set to record only recorded a blank screen and the information on the recording as to time and duration was all to cock. Since then I have had persistent problems with EPG daily downloads and have been downloading manually, using the yellow button. My success with these has become more and more inconsistent and I have noticed that every time I download an EPG, I appear to lose the effectiveness of the timer recording facility. That is to say, the timer event is still listed in the Timer Menu and the programme remains marked in the EPG but not brightly highlighted and the recoding comes out as a blank screen. I have had no choice but to delete the original timer event and re-input the timer recording details. This is becoming extremely tedious.
Over the last two weeks I have consulted various themes on the forum and having deleted EPGdat files and tried XMLTV and XEPGDB providers (none of which work on a daily basis), I have managed to get an OpenTV provider to work on a daily download. However, this has not solved the timer recording issue. I still lose the effectiveness of timer recording after both manual and automatic downloads of the EPG. For the time being I have decided to manually download the EPG once or twice a week and redo the timed events each time. I would be very grateful if someone could point me towards a solution.
