Hi everyone wave.gif,

I am totally new to VU+ receivers and looking for your help. I am currently using a clone DM800se and it's ok so far. I want to buy a new receiver for my second TV. I read about the VU+ receivers and can say they are decent and well built.

I narrowed down my wish list to Solo2 and Duo2, but can't decide which one to get. Why? Because the price difference is only EUR 80.00 from the place I found.

VU+ Solo2 (2xDVB-S2 Tuner) = EUR 269.00
VU+ Duo2 (2xDVB-S2 Tuner) = EUR 349.00

The advantages of the Duo2 over Solo2 which I can tell are, more RAM and Flash, builtin WIFI, 2.5/3.5 in HDD instead of 3.5 in HDD, more options to configure the tuners. But still can't decide. I need experienced users to guide me. I know a couple of years ago some people were preferring Solo2 over Duo2 because of the price difference. Now the case is different I guess.

I will be waiting for your recommendations.

Thanks,
Mak

Solo 2 is a smaller box no internal hard drive and basic lcd screen.
The duo2 I found to be much better hard drive built in no messing with usb external drive and the displays on duo2 are great.
u can have one screen showing nothing but full screen picon and the other screen tells u what's on and other info ie progress.
The screens on duo2 can be configured to suite u.

Pay the extra and get a proper full sized box.
as for speed comparisons between the two boxes they are the same.
The remote control on the duo2 is much nicer also.

I had both boxes and ended up getting rid of solo2 and sticking with duo2.

However some people prefere a smaller box ...

Here's a pic of my displays gives u a idear of what there like ..

You are WRONG. Into Solo2 you can place a 2.5" SATA Hard Disk ....

Oh yes sorry forgot that but still think duo 2 better.
u can fit 2.5 and 3.5 inside it. and swapable tuners ..
Can't remember if solo2 has that option...

Thank you for your recommendations. I think I will go with the Duo2 since the size is not a concern. However, which tuner configuration would be best, 2xDVB-S2 Tuner or 1xDVB-S2 Dual Tuner? I want to be able to record and watch other channel at the same time.

In mine I had 2 sat tuners that does the job for watching 1 and recording another.
The box should come with the 2 tuners already installeinstalled.

As far as I know, two DVB-S2 Tuners will occupy two slots, where one Dual DVB-S2 Tuner will occupy one slot. But my question is, are the doing the same job?

Yes they do the same job...

On mine I have the 2 sat tuners on the one slot.the other slot that's free I have a cable tuner in it.

Here's a pic showing my 2 sat tuners in use.
The other tuner is cable but not used at moment ..
