If you are not an expert and only basic user, don't follow instructions in point 4:
Do a full backup before for recovery, if you will delete/uninstall something for error http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/how-to-made-personal-backup-and-full-backup.10083/

    1. At first use BH Speed Up to stop all services not used
    2. Uninstall all plugins and addons not used
    3. Uninstall all not used skins except of default skins (enigma2 will crash without them)
    4. Not for basic users! (to avoid deleting important files) Run FTP client on PC (Filezilla from VUCC) and delete unused languages in flash: /usr/share/enigma2/po/xx/ language folders except of "en" and "it" and your "xx" language. Each deleted language will free about 200 kB of flash.
    5. Reboot

It's most usefull for 128 MB Flash Solo/Uno/Duo boxes.

    thank you
But what the role of the clear memory plugin already installed in the server blackhole?

Please, don't use it, it's a plugin for RAM clearing, but when you clear a RAM (means cache memory too!), it will slow the system.

    thank you paolino
If this is a problem why leave it in the BH server?

It's not a problem, sometimes somebody should need to clear RAM - especially for testing purposes. That's why is there.

Hi there - a brilliant plugin is available called flashexpander which allows you to assign a hard disk or usb stick to be used as flash memory - been using it for a good while now with an 80gb hard drive and my actual flash memory has never exceeded 50% usage. Also use the swapfile feature of blackhole to use a hard disk or usb stick as ram memory. Hope this helps.

Excuse me, but this is wrong.. What is 200kb ? Nothing...
You got to do more than just deleting po files.. It will crash unless the language.pyo file is modified.

Yes, you are right about GSOD when you call deleted language. But I wrote: basic user, don't follow instructions in point 4

No, 200kB isn't nothing. It's 200.000 bytes (for 1 deleted language) and Solo and Duo will be happy to have them :). Deleting 15 of them, you can have about 3 MByte more flash free.

Even if it's an old thread, the topic is interesting. Now, the question is: deleting the locale folders from
    /usr/share/enigma2/po
it's only part of the job because there are many, many, locale folders for each plugin, either the system ones, or the user's ones.
So, I'd like to ask someone: what is the command (or the script) used during the startup wizard? When you install a fresh image, it asks you if you want to delete the other languages.
I suppose this command or script deletes also the other subfolders containing locales, doesn't it?

Removing the remaining languages will not bring image instability? I never do it ... because it would eliminate the base language (English) ....

No, English is never removed: it couldn't be. The function leaves your language, English UK and English US.
