Format USB Memory Stick on your Windows Computer. Chose Fat32 file system and check that Allocation size for the stick is set to Standard size.

The download fresh image of your choice but i recommend BlackHole 3.0.7 unzip file to usb stick and try to flash.

Every time there is an flash issue image want flash or STB dont go in to flash modus its an bad incompatible USB Stick.

    @ Alexwilmac

Kindly note that I obtained the same perfect results when today I first performed a Factory Reset using my Remote Control and subsequently by using the telnet command.
There was absolutely no difference at all that I noticed.
For example, in my BH_3.0.7 Image I had installed two Plugins, one is Dream Explorer and the other is Live Football and in both instances they remained untouched. All other settings were lost precisely the same during both the Remote Factory Reset and that used by the telnet command.
This clearly shows that the factory reset telnet command produces the same precise and exact results as that of the Factory Reset by the Remote Control.

I take back your first message where I supposed you had a technical curiosity to do something that everyone does just by reflashing in a different way. I also supposed you might have issues with your USB ports.
But, if this is not the case, a factory reset is simply made by flashing your box with a flash drive, a USB stick, containing the image you want (decompressed).
Flashing means erasing everything in your flash memory, the place where your image, the O.S. of a VU+, resides. It is like formatting the HDD of a PC and reinstalling the O.S.
So you have many options: you can flash the original VU+ image (for your model, of course) or you can flash by other images, like ours BH and OBH, that you can download (and unzip) from our forum.
So, this is the simplest way to perform a factory reset if you have your USB ports functioning. The other way is Academy ;)
In our forum you'll find the guides to flash a VU+.

That's seems to be the point for me. Please could'you tell me this telnet command if possible?
Anyway I 'm in a lot of trouble with my Vu+ for now.
I can still be connected to the Solo4K with telnet, but no USB key is detected. So the automount process seems unavailable, I think so.
In extra details (which is quite out off topic) I can't create the /usb folder in the /proc directory, and I don't know why!
So it would be better for me to ask the vuplus-community for an after sale service where to send back my receiver for a complete repair.
Thank you very much for your kind concern
I wish you and all of members of this forum a Happy new year.
    Sincerely.

I tried to use 3 ranges of USB **** : 5 generic 2 Gb ****, Five 4Gb generic chinese ****, branded AT, 5 Sandisk 16 Gb "Cruiser Blade" ****, 2 Sandisk USB 3.0 64 Gb "Ultra" **** and 2 Kingston 16Gb "DataTraveller 100" Usb ****, following the howto-flash-update-vu-images, each time. No one ran flashing. I tried the front USB slot, than the backward USB one. No result!
I don't think many effectives options are remaining. Buy a reaady-made usb key if available, or send back my receiver to an after sale service, as i said.
Thank you so much for your concern.

How did you prepare your flash sticks (don't use other words, like k_eys, otherwise the'll be... starred)?
What operative system has got your computer? MacOs, Linux, windows?

Ok. You have tried to reflash your SYB with severall USB Pen drives, with severall capacities ... and no way! :(

I saw from your post --> https://www.vuplus-community.net/bo...ds-for-your-vu-for-dummies.34886/#post-253993 , that you have trried to performing a backup, without suceed!

    Simple asnswer!

During the flash process """ it doesn´t matter the image you are trying to flash """", have you removed your all USB devices connected to your STB? As far example: HDD ( if it was the case ).

    Power OFF your STB!
    Remove all USB devices!

Insert the Usb device ( previously formated at FS - FAT32 ) that contains all files needed to flash:

At the root folder ( unzipped files that contains the folder ... and follows ).

    best regards

Despite of the link to the flashing guides, I've now the suspect that you "brutally" copy the .zip installation file into your pen drive, without unzipping it...
Or that you format them not in FAT32. You haven't given any details to us, yet. Saying that the flashing does not work, is too few.
And, as everyone said, there's no other way to flash your box, it's better for you to go deeper into these details we are asking for ;)

    Hopefully it is! :D

Note: This thread has a lot of linux commands that only serves to bring confusion " when not familiar near as I am, with Linux commands = enigma2 ".

    best regards

I just read this Howto, which was certainly not the good one. Thank you so much anyway.
