Ok here's my boring story

Had a vu+solo2 for just over a year now, has been working fine, just renewed a sub etc.....

Then strange thing happened, found that I would get a tuner fail problem every so often. Read through everything on forums, checked signal etc, basically im sure signal is good, put in back of TV which has freesat and works fine, went through all preferences and all set up correctly,

So I was running a older version of openvix apollo so thought Id reflash it, however the tuner worked on certain backups but not all.

So I decided Id try and do a download and clean install. Dowmloaded latest openvix

Now next problem in equation is I've only got macs no pc's. so tried initialising usb stick in vuplus and then ftp'ing files onto usb stick.

This didnt work.

For the ftp'ing I use idreamx software which has been really good.

But the solo2 just would not boot from usb stick, tried it from little toshiba hard drive again would not boot

started going nuts

went round a friends house, all pc's , downloaded files, reformated drives , extracted files to drives. Tried to reboot but still no

then out of frustration, looked at all files on idream x on the vu+ and DELETED THEM ALL, thinking I could boot from USB - No joy VU+ just says starting

what do I do now???

thanks for any response

Your box is genuine?

Are you pressing the on button when prompted too when the flashing process starts??

You really would be better off using a PC, or getting one of your Macs to run a virtual windows, so that you can communicate, with your receiver, and use a FTP program, like Filezilla, and other tools, like the VU+ Control Centre, and Dreambox tools.
Never used a Mac, as I prefer to build, and modify, my own PC, so I'm unsure what you can do with it, and if it can run a FTP program.

Are you trying to load the Vix image, from the USB stick, or are you trying to transfer files, using the USB stick?

I'm not sure updating the image will fix your tuner problem, as it might be hardware related, rather than software, but worth trying.

Your VU+ might be out of warranty, and I doubt your supplier, or the manufacturer, will accept its return just because you are unable to flash an image, especially as you state that you are using a Mac, and not a PC, to download, and install, your image, which might be the cause of the problem.
Can't you borrow a laptop, running windows, or a Linux operating system, to download and image, format your USB stick, and then try and load the image?
I have found that cheap, small, USB sticks work with my VU+ Duo 2.
The two, I use the most, are both Toshiba, a 8 GB, and a 16 GB, which I got for a few pounds, and always work.

Shouldn't be a Mac problem. I regularly insert a usb stick into my Mac, and then copy the vix flash files over from terminal.

Are you sure you're using the right folder structure for the image files? You'll need the right build for your box and the right folder structure on the usb stick to make it work.
