Open VIX on Vu Duo - back up problem

Bought a secondhand Vu+ Duo, it came with OpenVIX installed.
I tried to back up the image before i reflashed the box.

Placed USB stick in front USB / mounted USB (or at least i hope i did)

In Back Up menu, there was no option to selected HDD or USB, even though both were intsalled.
Started Back Up..... and it crashed.

Turned out it tried to Back Up to internal flash (bangs head)

Now the unit goes to Green Screen during boot (once enigma2 starts)
Log file shows that flash is full. No more space.

I would of liked to back up this image or at least remove some files with in it.

Is my only option to flash a complete new image via USB now?

I just removed the cover off the Vu+ Duo to find the HDD had been unplugged.
Perhaps USB drive was not mounted correctly.

Yes. You must reflash your box to solve the problem and after that verify the mounts of your devices prior to start a new backup process.
