Slow image advice

Hi guys ,
I have a duo 2 running black hole open image 1.0
I am having issues with the box been really slow to respond to commands from the remote, it has a icon coming up in the top left corner saying vuplus image .
My aim is to install a fresh more updated image but I’m wanting to keep all my settings and plugins ect .

Do I need to do setting backup install new image and then restore settings or is there more To think about , I would really like to keep all settings plugins ect without having to start all over again .

That's the desire of many.
However, you're using a pretty old image so there could be compatibility issues with plugins in latest images.
As for settings, you can always save and restore them with Dreamboxedit or similar apps.
Mods or more experienced users can enlighten more about plugins.

Give the plugins things up: save your bouquets, as Gold_66 said, and -after flashing, install your favourite plugins.
