Solo2 Transcoding still poor quality

Does this really means that I could transcode from my USB DVB-T tuner ?
If so... cool... now I'm waiting for recorded tv shows transcode, audio bitrate and audio language selection (all from a transcoded stream).

I'm really happy because all my feature requests sent to the Vu support, one by one, has been ported into code...
I'm also cuorios if they fixed the framerate bug, see my post #105 in this thread, already reported to Vu.

Also my "Blue Light" works fine with transcode.

@Max what framrate give you the best result (lipsync included) ??

Can't differ quality between internal or DVB-T2/t290 stick, on trancoded SD broadcasts,
to my Iphone5, tested on wifi. But same bitrate that I use on the road/3G.

29.970 or 30.000 for "best results" here, but a correctly working 25 fps (no framerate change here in UE) would be better.
Video quality for transcoded vtuner is the same as internal tuners.

Don't Ipads, Iphones and Android phones/tablets operate at 60Hz anyway? All this means is that the devices will add the extra frames otherwise there'll be obvious frameskipping. Am I missing something here?

framerate 30 and 60 work ok for me, and i thing its really not 30 and 60 but 25 and 50 (imo bug in plugin), becouse source material, have 25Hz. Bitrate changes also work ok (i test on latest VTi with new plugin.py

For those, who used file in this post. Reflash, and install last drivers. New Transcoding options for Solo2 are working with BH 2.0.5 Rev. B without problems.

Hi Paolino, why using plugin posted by VANT a new flash is required ?
I get the same plugin from Vu site, upgraded drivers, replaced plugin, but the problem with non-ntsc framerate perstist.

Yesterday I had enough free time to do a completely new BH 2.0.5 rev B installation.
Flashed with 2.0.5, online update to rev B, updated drivers, installed latest plugin.py, but the framerate problem with transcode still remain. I'm sure it's a bug in the vuplus-dvb-modules-vusolo2-3.3.8-4.4.3-20130904 drivers.

For all people who'll send a bug report, please support me with the following bugfix/requests:

Bug Fix:

1) Fix please framerate problems with vaules different from 30000, 29970, 59940 or 60000. Using other values (23976, 24000, 25000 or 50000) the stream still remain as in old drivers really unwatchable with a lot of freezes, pixelation, blockyness and audio out of sync of about 6/7 seconds. This tests has been done using an incoming 25 fps interlaced TV signal (PAL).

2) There's no way to select an audio stream present in the TS other then #1.
It doesn't matter firrmware settings (preferred language), ONLY audio stream #1 is passed to the transcoder. So,TV channels like Euronews, is streamed with the audio #1, french, instead of my preferred language, italian.

3) Correct the aspect ratio of the transcoded stream to respect the original A/R.
Actually the transcoded stream resolution is fixed and distorted for most TV channels. Also, some more pixels in the transcode resolution will be appreciated.


Wishlist:

1) Add Audio Bitrate setting to create a better balanced mux. Most ADSL providers offer only 1Mbps as UL speed. Considering that actually aac audio stream from the transcoder is fixed to about 200 kbps, the max video bitrate available is about 600kbps. So audio is near the 30% of the video stream... too high. An audio stream of 128 or 96 kbps can be enough on small devices.

2) I appreciated the new feature of vtuner transcode, now I'll be happy to see the recorded tv programs already available as transcoded stream.

I'm also having big problems using Vu+ Player 1.2 for Android with new drivers
(but I also have the same problem using dreamdroid).
If I play a tv channel stream and then I press the back key og my phone to turn back to channels list, with previous drivers all worked fine, now with dvb-drivers release on 20130904, the player on the phone stops and shows channels list, but on my Solo2, both stream and recording icons on the STB display still remain on, and no more stream (transcoded or not) are possible.
Sometimes exit from the app is enough, both indicators goes off and all works fine until the next channel change, sometimes and hard reboot is mandatory.
I already contacted tillke, the author of the Android app, to investigate this new problem.

btw. i use dreamdroid app in my htc and this app have interested feature....we can watch transcoded stream on tv (transcoded stream is go back to vu)

Can you please explain me how to configure dreamdroid to use port 8002 ?
With latest drivers my STB locks the stream/transcoder section everytime I stop a stream play (REC and STREAM incons on the Solo2 display still remain on). I'd like to see what happens with dreamdroid.

Thanks VANT, I tested my problem playing transcoded streams using dreamdroid on port 8002.
Same result as for Vu+ Player.
The stream starts, but turning back to channlel list both STREAM/REC icons on Solo2 still remain active,
locking the streaming section of the STB.
This happens to me only with 20130904 dvb drivers and using mobile apps. No problems playing/changing streams (trancoded or not) using VLC. on PC using WebGui.

Can you please check it on your side with dreamdroid ?

Thanks VANT... this thing is driving me crazy... a completely new BH 2.0.5 Rev B install.... always same results...
Did you also tested with Vu+ Player for Android ?
If you are using my same combination (Solo2+BH205B) can you please do a fulll backup of your system, and share with me with DropBox, SkyDrive, Copy and so on, your image ?
I need to know if this is an hardware fault in my Solo2 at this point...
