This is an original vu+ Solo with up to date BH image and not any added plug in. Turning on the stb causes static noise and hissing ONLY when it is set in 1080i mode under a/v settings menu. pressing stand by button twice (going to standby and on) solves the problem. if it is set to 720p mode there would be no problem and sound is okay. Going from 1080i mode from 720p mode also causes a similar problem as the sound turns into mute or hissing and I would have to go to stand by and return for normal sound.
tested with 2 different TV sets and 2 av receivers and the problem persists. The problem is seen only with my solo and the Solo2 works as expected.
