On recorded programmes the subtitles are not in sync

During live broadcast of the same program they are perfect though

Please test and confirm

That's annoying to hear (the fact that it's been reported previously I mean)

Who's the project lead on this image? Can you/I PM the person and get some attention on this issue?

This *really* needs fixing, non-working subs are a deal breaker on this image...

Hi

It's fairly straightforward

Tune to a uk channel with subtitles, active (English) subtitles, note that they are perfectly in sync.

Record the program for 5 mins

Stop recording and playback

Activate subtitiles on recording and note that they are now out of sync and if I remember rightly appear too soon.

As per post #3 the subtitles button does not work on playback, you need to go through the audio options to enable/disable.

FYI
This has happened to me to, on my ultimo.
Jumping forward and back again via 3 and 1 button, will eventually get the subtitles back in sync.
Best Regards

Yes this have been an issue for a long time.
The market for subtitling is unfortunately not big (mostly Scandinavia and some more country) and therefor maybe the subtitling issue has always ended up in the end of the to do list.

I wonder if Pli image has fixed this? I think there is some Kernel fix to do and DM/VU does not bother to even try.

Kernel fix? I think can be an E2 fix but not a kernel fix.

Been following this thread.
As not everyone in our house understands English perfectly we also use subtitles a lot and have had problems often with sync to speech with recordings, in fact they can be unusable and we don't watch as many recordings as we would because of this.
If you can think of any tests that you would like me to do let me know.

To be honest I thought it was a problem of subtitles not being selected when recording started but being turned on later.
For example I record a movie that starts at 9pm, then start watching it at 9.15pm and turn subtitles on then as it is still recording.
I was thinking that might of been main cause as I think it works if subtitles turned on previous to recording.

Anyway, I'm rambling, if you need me to test something, or confirm above, let me know.

No, whether you have the subtitles on during the thing you are recording or not makes no difference

When you (re)watch the same program the subs are out of sync.

Watching live broadcasts with the subtitles is fine

I would also point out that when watching a recorded programme/film to active the subtitles you have to (on my Duo anyway) do a dance of audio menu options as the subtitles button doesn't work, this is also annoying and should be fixed.

Will check and see.

You are right about audio menu for subtitles, bit stupid, found out by pressing buttons.

And live broadcast subtitles are fine.
