Vu+ duo2 in-built Wlan setup

Vu+ Newbie
Hi y'all, I am a brand-new newbie and geeks are my Idols. Seriously though, I just bought a rather expensive vu+ duo2 with a 3tb HDD and I have no idea what to do with it, other than watching mundane tv programs.
I tried to Setup the Wlan on the vu's in-built Adapter with my Speedport W920V T-Home. Every Gimmick in my house runs through this speedpor router, handies, Tabs, ipads etc. They all connect to the router without a problem. So I set the Vu's wlan using the wizzard, result is: everything is green, wlan connected, but Ip address and Nameserver are unconfirmed and in red. Although the Vu connects to my router but because of this Ip address and Nameserver hiccup I am unable to go online in any way, form or Fashion through the vu, but it says my Network is connected. Please, please, how do I get this Ip address and Nameserver thing resolved.

Try with WPA or WPA2 setup (not use WPA/WPA2 into config).

Thanks, but it still won't work. Here are my current Settings:

Wireless Network Configuration

Use Device yes

Use DHCP yes

Use Manual dns-nameserver no

Encrypt Method WPA

Network Test

LAN Adapter WLAN Connection

Wireless Connected

DHCP Enabled

IP Address Unconfirmed

Nameserver Unconfirmed

Here are my Router Details:

T- Home Speedport W920V

Encryption - WPA/WPA2
WAN IP - 91.46.104.193
IP Address - 192.168.2.0
Gateway - 217.0.119.2
Primary DNS - 217.0.43.155
Secondary DNS - 217.0.43.129

Please help a desperate man. My Vu+duo2 is brand new with the original Firmware. The above Details are correct but where to enter them on the Vu is the Problem.
Can someone please give me a simple and detailed instruction on how to move beyond this Nemesis.
Thanks a lot in advance.

To see all your network, and what is connected to, if you have a PC or Laptop running windows give a try to this piece of software:

Advance Ip Scanner ( google for it, and may will help to see alll your network, IP, Mac, etc )

Basically you should set your gateway as per your router ip,
paths same for your primary DNS than put 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS free to use) as secondary DNS.

The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

The Google Public DNS IPv6 addresses are as follows:

  • 2001:4860:4860::8888
  • 2001:4860:4860::8844
You can use either number as your primary or secondary DNS server. You can specify both numbers, but do not specify one number as both primary and secondary.

You can configure Google Public DNS addresses for either IPv4 or IPv6 connections, or both.

Thanks everyone. After a lot of dilly-dally I got my wlan configuration to this point:

Wlan connected
DHCP disabled
IP address confirmed
Nameserver unconfirmed

It appears the only hiccup now is the nameserver. How do I fix that.
My internet provider is T-online.de I have a DSL connection via a DSL splitter if that makes any difference.
I checked my Speedport W920V configuration and entered the info into the Vu+
In my router I have two Dns: Primary and secondary
Primary dns 217.0.43.145
Secondary dns 217.0.43.129

Someone please help me to address this nameserver issue.
Thanks y'all.

name server

dns primary 8.8.8.8
dns secondary 8.8.4.4

or

dns primary: 217.0.43.145
dns secondary: 217.043.129

or instead, the dns ip of our gateway: 192.168.1.1

if your gateway has the address: 192.168.1.1

It's me again. Got a problem with Vu+ duo2.
I tried to install some plugins, it all ran smoothly until I tried to install the Web browser plugin.
The system gave me the option to reboot, yes or no. So I clicked yes to reboot after the installation.
Now the Vu+ duo2 keep restarting, showing a green screen that says "we are really sorry. Your STB encountered a software problem and needs to be restarted. Please send a log file created in /hdd/ to
CRASHLOG."
Please help. I've tried to upload the crashlog file but I get this error message on this furum page "
The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension."
What to do now.
