Vu Ultimo tuner sensitivity

Hi

I bought Vu Ultimo 2 x DVB S2

bought It to better my low level transponder reception but
I was shocked to find out that my old Dreambox DB5620 have better signal reception than Vu ultimo
db5620 Is known to have very bad tuner but still can get freqs that ultimo can not tune
problem freqs are In High Ku band and mostly V pol
I have tested both plug and play tuners and they show same problem

In principle, it does not matter which satellite
because the tuner has a reception range.
Which is the same for all.

I do not know what is the reason for your problems
but the tuner is far better than in old Dreambox DB5620 .

I can confirm I also seem to have an issue with 12480v, 27500, fec 3/4 (not tried any of the others you have listed).

I have around 65% signal, 62% quality but the picture and sound are both broken up and unwatchable.

For info: I checked this using tuner C

but I have a signal on Astra from 85 to 99%
with 80 cm dish.Western Europe.
Are you sure that the configuration is good
and If you're using SAT settings whether they are good ??

On the old drimbox, I have yet DM7000
99% of the signal I have never seen.

Tuner Sensitivity has nothing to do with the problem,
because the signal is more than enough strong .

I am not at home to test,
but in any case it has nothing to do with the sensitivity of the tuner
but the problem with the transponder
or a problem in the receiver
But this is not tuner sensitivity problem but detection and signal demodulation problem.

To add

that this can be also a problem in the satellite settings and satellites.xml

Very strange as I checked in satfinder and the signal would be locked and then drop.

Then I did a manual scan, it found 13 services, but all are as above, and not working for me on that transponder.

Very confused.

Now working ok

I switched to Dmax (12480 V) as before and it was all broken up picture and sound, but this time after maybe 10 seconds the signal quality increased and the picture and sound is now good.

Seems unlikely on a strong sat such as Astra 1 with a 1.2m channel master, when we only need a maximum of 60cm here in uk.

But anything is possible I guess.

I tested some of these channels
I do not see any problem.
Sport 1 abt 65% snr,DMAX abt 65%
With a 80cm dish, all signals are more than 60%-65%
Not too strong
but VU Ultimo can receive much weaker signals .
I think the minimum is around 30 +%
Which indicates the sensitivity of the tuner
that is great.

Old dreambox cannot recive signals with 30/40% SNR.

Vu Ultimo give at least 40 % less SNR on almost all V pol chns (excl 12.285V) compared to H pol - you can test your H to V chns readings
for example on 19.2 E RTL which Is a H pol db5620 give 91 % - on ultimo It Is 99 % , on CNN which Is a V pol db5620 give me 87 %, ultimo give 65 %

Matrix the min value of snr In % can be whatever value you want - It Is not absolute value - all satellite receivers got different scales so It Is not a correct to compare tuner threshold from % reading
