Vu Ultimo tuner sensitivity

I tested a little above.
Of course all of these tests are relative
and without proper instruments is difficult to bring any real conclusion.

In particular, the question arises whether the difference is real or cosmetic
as SNR bar.
I will try to set this matter to VuPlus because they have the real possibility of measuring the characteristics.

I tested this today on my Ultimo and do not experience any of the problems on H/V transponders, There was a slight difference maybe 5db but nothing on the scale of nearly 20-25db i would have a look at your setup first as not all tuners react the same. Plus you cannot rely on the SNR margin meter on a box it is unreliable

Yes I have also no problem
we talking only about the difference in SNR bar for now
the question arises whether the difference is real or cosmetic.
=======================================
Im sorry,
It is not true ,test on DMAX 19E
The difference is evident between the vertical polarisation signals, compared to other receivers.
The truth, difference is not the same everywhere.
I have test with the same antena and the same LNB with both tuners and also with VU UNO and ULTIMO
and some other receivers.
No big difference with H polarisation ( even some H signals stronger at VU Ultimo) but difference with V polarisation is evident .
But let us wait for the technical test
and the results of actual measurements with the measuring instruments.
Measurements on this way are not sufficiently convincing.
I measure the receivers for over 20 years
but not satellite receivers.

on Astra 1H db5620 open 12.480V, 12.363V, 12,551V 24/7 and many others which ultimo Is tune failed

Ok guys just read on another forum, the 12480 problem I had before, and have just tested is back.

It is interference from DECT phone, I have just checked for myself and powering down the base for my DECT phone fixed the problem instantly and powering it up again forced the problem to return.

I do not have any problems with DECT phones
I want to have information about the difference in signal strength on the vertical and horizontal polarization.
Rather than local disturbances from DECT phones e.t.c

Just wanted to bump this thread as i have have now started to notice this problem also 13° east Primafila HD 5 & 7 picture breaks up and SNR signal bar varys between 40% and 64%, I decided to put my Duo in its place and the Signal level shot up to 78% snr and no picture breakup there is a definite problem with the Ultimo tuners.

I've no problems with Ultimo and their tuners.
I appear to have the problem on Vu+ Duo. Notice a difference in channel reception/ availability when switching LNB input between tuners. Can the tuners be adjusted within the machine? Is there a software/ driver update?

You may not have any problems but from this thread it appears many people do, And i can rule out my setup also because like i said if i put my Duo in its place exactly the same settings same Blackhole 1.7.2 everything exactly the same i experience no breakup.

Can anyone else try TP 12418 V 29900 3/4 DVB-S2 on 13° east and see what the results are.

This is almost the same problem i had when i owned a Clark Tech ET9000 and that could not tune to SR30000 TP's without picture breakup. And that was a Hardware problem.

Well it had to happen sadly i have had to let go of my Ultimo due to the main factor being the sensitivity of the Tuners, In other words they are not very good and cant lock or hold a fringe reception signal where as other sat receivers can. I just hope VU+ sort this problem out once and for all then i may revisit the Ultimo again

When I bought my Ultimo 8 months ago I noticed some of the channels on Hotbird were breaking up. I have a motorised dish and the second on Hotbird whick is fixed, the motorised dish was ok when swung round to Hotbird, I checked the cables and connections all ok. I had an Inverto lnb on the fixed dish so I swopped it with an Invacom, this sorted the problem. It may be the tuners are not compatible with certain lnb's.

Thats the very same problem i had and it was using an Inverto black ultra LNB looks like you found the cause of the problem i never though of trying another LNB, although for the premium price charged for this box you would have thought it would be compatible with all LNB's

scorpion007

Yes It should be compatible with all LNB's , being a premium receiver it may have been factory fine tuned with a quality LNB for better performance hence it's
not so good with cheaper LNB's. I can only say it has out performed my DM7025 and cheaper receivers I have used in the past by far.
