Hi, I'm just moving from Humax Foxsat HDR to Linux/Enigma 2 receiver. i have ordered the Vu+ Uno 4k Satellite receiver. Any help/tips e.g. Blackhole v Openatv etc Skins(any similar to Humax), how to initially set it up & how to configure a USB Hard drive, would be gratefully appreciated. I will be fitting a unicable 2 SCR-LNB / 24 SCR - 2 Legacy UHD 4K. many thanks

    Hello
I have connected my vu+ uno 4k, done a basic tune in, setup 5 favourites all OK, I connected a Seagate SDA 1 T byte HDD,formatted it, initialized it, but no record or time-shift function, can anyone help please?

Do you have a VU+ Uno 4K or the Uno 4K SE model?
I think the Uno 4K SE has a caddy, that you inset an internal HDD into, but I'm not sure about the Uno 4K.

Which image have you loaded, onto your VU+ receiver?

If you don't have previous experience with linux based STBs, it's important to know that initialising is only the first part of the process, when you want to use a mass storage device: you need also to MAP it.
For instance, a HDD is mapped as /media/hdd.
We don't know what image you installed, though.

Timeshift is active by default in OpenBlackHole (OBH), whilst in BH you need to install a specific plugin and then enable it.
But without a mapped device, T.S. cannot work ;)

Hi, I'm just moving from Humax Foxsat HDR (because the tuners are weak), . I have the Vu+ Uno 4k Satellite receiver. Any help/tips e.g. Blackhole v OpenATV etc, Skins(any similar to Humax), how to initially set it up & how to configure a USB Hard drive, would be gratefully appreciated. I have fitted a unicable 2 SCR-LNB / 24 SCR + 2 Legacy Outputs.
I have connected my vu+ uno 4k, done a basic tune in, setup a Favourites list all OK, I connected a Seagate SDA 1 T byte HDD,formatted it, initialised it, but no record or time-shift function, found a thread, & loaded openATV, set ENGLISH( adjustments are in German?), this found the HDD ok, but the signals from Astra 2 are weaker than from my Humax?? My cable setup is the 2 cables from Humax to Tuner inputs A & B on the vu+, the LNB ends to a splitter then to the unicable LNB, configured Tuners A,C,D,E to SCR 1,2,3,4 & Tuners B,F,G,H to SCR's 5,6,7,8. I also have an LG Smart TV with Freesat tuner connected to Legacy OP from the LNB, the signal here is OK. I will check the connections from the LNB tomorrow to make sure the are all good, but any help & advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Sorry, forgot to put, "Thank you for your Replies". It was the basic factory Vu+ Image that came with the box, the 'mapping' function wasn't there( found a thread in "vuplus-images.co.uk" that advised to flash another Image, & I did it with openATV, but I found that 'English' Is only half English i.e. adjustment from 'yes to no' is in German??!!

Though, change it to BlackHole or Open BlackHole where you have it in " Pure English ".

    best regards

Yes... poor you: I can only sympathize with you if you stumbled upon OpenATV.
About the rest, you asked the whole universe.... Being in a hurry with Linux-based receivers is not good. Humax is a closed system (I know it: it was my first satellite receiver): linux-based STBs, thanks to these images, are an open world.
Leave the skin matter, for now, 'cause it's just an aesthetic thing.
First of all, install BH or OBH, set your tuners and scan your channels. Get acquainted with the bouquets approach:

    https://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/bouquets-in-enigma2-images.40483/

then, step by step, go on. You can't have everything immediately: these are not receivers but real computers and their operative system can't be learnt overnight. Be patient! :)

Thank you guys, I have downloaded BH 3.0.9-vuuno4k_usb_release_20190714_7bc68c8, I will install it tomorrow, How do I remove ATV, should I just do a factory reset?
Hi 'Alexwilmac', my partner says I'm too impatient, so I've left it alone till tomorrow & chilling with a glass of wine!

    My regards to you all.

Is it the Freesat version of the Humax you have??

Well then you will have the option to use a recognizable skin soon if you go for OpenBlackhole, I will do it for Blackhole also but thats in the future

Hi Thomas67, when my Foxsat first went faulty I got a new Humax that had Free time skin but I didn't like it as much as the old Freesat GUI. The new one went faulty within a week so I returned it & kept going with the old one until now.
