Hi,
My zero4k bootup speed with the official usb hard drive is very slow.
Without the drive its speed is more than acceptable.
Does the blackhole image address this problem?
I'd prefer (I'm guessing) that any file checking is done in the background after the box has booted.
I'm currently using Openpli but wondering if a Blackhole image would help me.
I have asked the same question on openpli forum but sadly all quiet there at the moment.
Thanks in anticipation.

We don't know about Pli.
Try Black Hole and if the issue persist you have to test with another hdd.

Sorry I wasn't clear... it's not a trial thing... but wether BH has expert options to chose how/when file systems are parsed.
Openpli questions are for the openpli forums.
Thanks

OK.. I've just been informed that the openpli image doesn't check the file system. So I'm guessing that BH doesn't either at bootup.
I'll have to do a few reinstalls and some experiments.
Thanks.

There not only checks which make HDD to work... There is the timeshift, for instance.
And, anyway, it's the case YOU do a filesystem check by your own. This is the most logical thing to try.
How old is your HDD? HDD die and not always after a mean time of 7 years. I've seen HDD having damaged sectors after a few weeks or die after a few days.
