Kodi 19 installation on an Open black hole 4.4

Hi, owner of a Vu * Duo 4K SE decoder with Open Blackhole 4.4 I wanted to know how I can update the system to Kodi 19 Matrix (now Kodi 18 Leila is present).

Is it necessary to change the image that implements it?

Or can it be loaded as a plugin?

Thanks for clarification.

You might have to wait until it's implemented, in the next image update, but at the moment Kodi 18.9 is still working, for me.
A lot of images were still using older versions, of KODI, than Leia, the last time I checked, which admittedly was some time ago, so it might take a while, before we get the Matrix version.
It is installed, as a plugin, when you load an image, so you generally don't have it installed, with the image, but select it, during installation, and if not you can then download it, from the plugin menu, you can also go into the plugins downloads, and see.

In download plugin there is nothing.
I guess you have to wait for a new version of the image.
In the official Kodi site there is no version for satellite decoders with images with linux kernel.

I have Kodi 18.0 Leia on my OBH 4.4.023 (Vu+ Uno4K SE) and installed addons for Netflix and Amazon VOD. Inputstream Helper and VidewineCDM are up to date. But at every time i start an stream from Netflix oder Amazon VOD, Kodi crashes. After many hours of investigation I found the cause in Inputstream.Adaptive 2.4.8 which is the last version for Leia. It can not handle Widevine 4.10.2252.5.

On Github is an newer InputStream.Adaptive 2.6.22 for Matrix and 20.0.2 for Nexus who works properly with Widevine 4.10.2252.5. So @Mick12334 : its no longer correct that Kodi 18.9 is still working. I think it is a very good reason to have an updated OBH image with Kodi 19 Matrix. Is there a chance for an newer OBH image?

You will just have to patient, as it took a long time, before we even got KODI 18, in Open Black Hole, but hopefully they're working on an updated image, to include KODI 19.3, a message for which has appeared when I've started KODI.

I no longer stream, using my VU+ Duo2, when in KODI, I only download streams, then view them later, from my internal hard drive. Streaming is too jerky, and unreliable.

If you want to stream you might be better getting a dedicated KODI device, as they are quite cheap, and were made for streaming.

@Mick12334 I have another way to view Amazon Prime and Netflix via my smart Bluray Player. But this has a really sluggish and slow UI and is not very comfortable: I must use four (!!!) remote controls: One for my TV to switch to another HDMI port. One for my HiFi receiver to turn on the sound. One for the BDR and the VU+ remote to turn it off. Quite cumbersome...

When I can use KODI on my STB I can do all with one remote control. This is why I prefer KODI on my STB instead one device for this, one device for that and another device for something other.

Do you know my dream for a really good system? Please imagine a Raspi 4 Compute Module with an PCIe-enabled Baseboard, an multi-tuner-PCIe-card for DVB-xx and an TB-sized SATA-SSD. Simply: common available hardware. And finally an firmware based on E2 and KODI. I think the usability of E2 is much better than KODI but KODI has the better infrastructure than E2. It's like there's just two good things that need to be put together to form a natural symbiosis. ^^
