The share folder (PC for example) appears in MediaPlayer on my VU only if I first switch my laptop on then the receiver. If I do the other way it's not working. Why?

The box cannot connect to a share if it's not avaiable in the network. It's normal.

But the receiver should connect to my laptop automatically and share the PC folder straight on after switching the receiver ON, shouldn't it?

If your Windows PC is already turned ON it's normal that your box automatically connect their shares.

But if it's OFF (laptop) the receiver won't connect automatically even if I will switch it ON (laptop). Receiver has to be rebooted to connect to the laptop, hasn't it?

Yes it's true.
I use NFS shares instead of CIFS because I've a NAS and I prefer for performances and stability these ones.

Can you only share from your C drive?

My films/TV files are on drives D: and F:

How do you map to these? I can't do D:\tv as the vu keyboard doesn't have the \ symbol.

Also tried dismount but that shows the my pcs drives but there is nothing in them other than the option to go back a folder.

This s painful to say the least :(

Sunespeg, tried that and it doesn't work.

I can set up the solo 2 to access a file on the C: drive and play it but not on any other drive.

Followed exactly the same sharing rules in W7 and checked the security tab to make sure that "everyone" has ticks in the right place.

If anyone has shared a drive other than C: can you please post how you did it?

Thanks

Set your W7 Media Player for Dlna (don't ask me how to, it's Windows stuff), next you can use Minidlna server and Djmount client on Vu+ to access your W7 Media Player shared files.

Tried that, along with VLC, nothing works.

Going to have to, either;

Increase my c drive size
Buy a NAS

Thanks for reply P
