Hello to everyone.

What is the recommended Swap file size and location?

Also what is the most useful mount, for a USB stick
media/hdd
media/usb
media/Cf

A 8-16GB USB stick is enough for all the VU+ Solo needs?
timesift
Swap file
Plagins
Backup
multiboot images
small recordings.

I have read so many post but some not in English so i don't understand them.
Please forgive my ignorance this is a new receiver for me. (5 days old)
Please any link or help is most welcome to setup a well running box.
Currently i have Blackhole Experimental 22-03-2011.

My recommendations,,,,,,!

Mount @media/usb.
128 size for swap file @USB!
8 GB is more than required, I use 2 & 4 GB , and still have over 60% empty ,,,,,,for multi boot and plus a lot of plugins,skins, picon,,etc!!
For recording,,,I use HDD....may be then 16GB or 32 GB,,,,do not know much about this,,,sorry!

It is Best to format USB with receiver or leaved FAT32?
Also EPG cache is ok to be on USB?

I do format with FAT32,,,then other format with receiver,,,,it works fine this way and then do mapping!
EPG cache is ok @USB, but never overload info,,,,it will crash!

C) Then 2 X blue Device manager Format USB stick / Reboot. (Performance gain)
D) Mount USB Stick as ? :confused:

to have ALL in ONE ? (Swap, EPG, Multiboot, Timeshift, Small Recording)

media/usb is the best choice !
Why swap file size for VU+ Solo is better 128MB not 64MB or 256MB ?

I would recommend 128!
But way not more,,,wait few days, will find U the answer!

It is most pleased to have this kind of help and support.

So !
Recommended setup for USB pen/Stick/Flash ( VU+ Solo).
USB pen/Stick/Flash size depents on your needs.
Recommended size for common use (Except recordings) 2GB is more then enough.

A) Format USB stick Fat32 with computer.
B) Turn of receiver plug it / start receiver (Use back USB port).
C) Then 2 X blue Device manager Format USB stick / Reboot. (Performance gain)
D) Then 2 X blue Device manager mount USB Stick as media/usb .

Keep in mind that all USB pen/Stick/Flash Drives
have limited read/wright cycles (Wikipedia) .

Excuse me but i am still fool enough i cannot understand why do you recommend 128MB swap file size. I use a 4 GB USB stick on a VU+ Duo and i can create up to 2GB size. You mean i can i use the remaining 3+ GB for other purposes and 128MB is enough?
