You are sure that it is COM1?
Try COM2 also, you should see something on Hyperterminal/putty when you put power on in the Vu.

Ok.
You cannot do more tests.
If your box is under warranty period please contact immediately the seller and open a request to change the fault piece of hardware (mainboard).

Interesting link but I haven't a CAS3 to make tests.
I've a broken Duo too to try to repair ...

My opinion on this issue.

1. I do not believe that the for VU you can use DM500 method of repair.
2.I do not believe that the reason for the problem is directly bootloader
In fact maybe he is damaged
But that does not mean it can not be repaired via com port .
3.So either the box hardware is broken
or a computer with which you have tried have problematic com port.
Or you have tried with some usb to com port interface.

I think it is advisable to try flash with an older computer with good com port.

But I should point out I did not have this problem
This is just my opinion
or you have broken hardware or computer with which you have tried have not appropriate COM port.

I think you can contact Vu+ and ask for a quotation for a new mainboard for your box.

I have opened the vu+ and i have noticed that the powerfan is doing nothing at all so mayby it is a powersupply problem

POWERED OFF AS SUGGESTED, LEFT FOR 30 MINS, DISCONNECTED HARD DRIVE ETC, RE CONNECTED, SWITCHED BACK ON, WORKING.

Disconnect every thing..HD ,USP, internet,SAT Feed!
And Use older version of original vu+!

@ front USB flash!

Then , I would recommend that U take it to the shop!
As it seems that the STB flash had been erased!

Yes i have seen it but they are user with a deep sleep problem or users that can connect to the box with hyperterminal.
I cannot do this mayby my NUL modem isńt any good

Can somebody help me my vu-duo only shows a red light and i cannot flash the box not by USB and not with the VU-Util tool neither can i use putty

I got this from another forum and post here for just help if this will help thanks goes to original author.

hi mate, I had the same problem and sent box back to supplier and they came up with this fix. Switch the box off, on the rear side.
choose in putty for serial connect, speed must be set to 115200 and choose you`re comport.
Put the box on, when you`re connection is oke, you wil see some text scrolling over the putty screen.
Now use the ctrl + c key to stop the booting.
copy the following line in the screen:

boot -z -elf flash0.kernel: 'rootfstype=jffs2 root=/dev/mtdblock0 rw mem=0x8000000 bcmrac=3`

The box now reboot from the flash, so watch you`re box.
Then open telnet with dcc and put in the following line.

flash_eraseall /dev/mtd5

and after that the following line

reboot -f

Then you`re box is running again.

It may work for you, nothing beats a try.
