Do not know where post my Q?
however, like to know what kind/type of hard disk U recommend,,and better internal or external?
sorry if posted in wrong place!
I use time shift & recording all the time!

You can use an internal hdd.
On my Vu+Duo, I installed a WD Caviar Green HDD and it works very fine.
The model I installed is: WD10EADS.

I'm new to Vu+ duo and to these Linux / Enigma type receivers.

I have a used 250 Gb harddisk external in a housing and want to use this for recording. I re-formatted the disk with Windows XP in NTFS.

I tried it outside via USB. When I restart Vu, I get Black Hole Enigma starting screen and it stays there. When I start Vu without HD connected and then plugged in HD, I get Harddisk listed in Menu. When I go to initialize, it just stays on initializing page and does not go further.

I tried to install HD directly inside Vu and get same problem when starting Vu that it stays on starting page and does not go further.

What is problem, maybe is format of HD problem ??

I am pretty interested on those add-ons in my box, so i want to know some details...
HDD - DVB-T tunner - USB internal hub - cables - fan e.t.c.
Can we start step by step the procedure?

good work actually ,,, i want to give my solo a fan and internal hdd but i dont know how !! would you give us a pretty good idea how to do it ..

Just fitted my 1st HDD 3.5 internal, ripped straight from a slybox and straight into my Duo, didnt even know what was on the drive, plugged in the connector leads to my brand new Duo, Powered up the box and the Duo started reading the drive, i was brickin it, Went into VUCC selected HDD and done the auto format.
Ran through the HDD set up in BH 2.0.8. NO problems mounting been recording and holding data, so far so good, maybe a different story in the morning but it was fun.
