Hi Guys,

I recently bought a VU+ Duo receiver, which came with Black Hole 1.7.0.

I tried to update to the latest 1.7.9, but after rebooting, the receiver got stuck at 'Starting...'

Searched this forum and saw others have had the same problems - So I did what it was recommended before;

Flashed original 7.0 image - It boots OK
Flashed updated bootloader - OK
Flashed 1.7.9 - Stuck
Flashed 1.7.6 - Stuck
Flashed 1.7.5 - Boots OK
Flashed bootloader again, rebooted - OK
Flashed 1.7.9 - Stuck at starting...

Any idea what is going on - Why would it boot images up to 1.7.5 normally and from there on get stuck???

Thanks

OK, I have made some progress here - Dumped the whole process of updating CFE, Re-flashing 1.7.9 and booting it and getting the following - Basically kernel crashes but I have no idea why -

Did you upgrade the bootloader? If not you should find it somewhere in the forums then you can upgrade to 1.7.3 or higher.

OK, I have made some progress here - Dumped the whole process of updating CFE, Re-flashing 1.7.9 and booting it and getting the following - Basically kernel crashes but I have no idea why -

Reading usbdisk0:/vuplus/duo/cfe_cfe_auto.bin: >> Skipping...: File not found

May be U have corrupted image!
Download a new image and extract to USB (after U do erase format)

Thanks Guys,

The first two sections of the log are

1) The updating of the bootloader
2) Flashing of the 1.7.9 version

To me both of them are flashed correctly (i.e. the log does not show any errors) - It must be the 14th time I have downloaded an image (from version 1.7.6 to 1.7.9) and flashed it - they all crash apart from images less than and including version 1.7.5 - I am guessing these use an older kernel -

Now why the older kernel does not crash on boot like the new one, I cannot explain and was hoping the experts here could give me some insight.

How can I make sure that this is true? It has been sold to me as the genuine article -

Has a sticker on it saying - 'Don't update software from other place, for it maybe damage the receiver. For new software, please go to ########### - At the back it has a 'V 2.0' sticker, together with S/N. Box came with Manuals, Cables, R232 Chip, NULL Modem cable, HDMI, HDD mounting Kit...

Seems an awful lot of stuff that would be very strange if packaged with a clone??

Genuine box's don't come with cables to recover it when you kill it as they will always support the latest images.

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a VU+ Duo receiver, which came with Black Hole 1.7.0.

I tried to update to the latest 1.7.9, but after rebooting, the receiver got stuck at 'Starting...'

Searched this forum and saw others have had the same problems - So I did what it was recommended before;

Flashed original 7.0 image - It boots OK
Flashed updated bootloader - OK
Flashed 1.7.9 - Stuck
Flashed 1.7.6 - Stuck
Flashed 1.7.5 - Boots OK
Flashed bootloader again, rebooted - OK
Flashed 1.7.9 - Stuck at starting...

Any idea what is going on - Why would it boot images up to 1.7.5 normally and from there on get stuck???

Thanks

I am having the same problems. You have a VU+DUO CLONE, and there are necessary with IC update of your device to stay compatible with the newest firmware images
