Benefits of clearing cache on my DUO

I read on a post that's it benefits the receiver in clearing the cache. How would doing this benefit my VU+DUO and how do I clear the cache. Im only asking as my receiver seems to be going slow and occasionaly I have to delete the history and cookies on my computer to speed it up. So I was wondering if doing this would help. Thanks
