Uno Could not update Image

Vu+ Newbie
Hi all,
i have a VU+ UNO with Black Hole image 2.0.7.1 installed in flash.

Usually every three months i update the image; last time was in november 2013 when i put the 2.0.7.1.
Now i try to update to the new 2.0.9.1, but it was not possible... :-(

I follow the same procedure i used last time, i used the same USB Memory Stick, but the decoder
seem not "seeing" it during the boot. The USB Memory Stick led is blinking but the decoder do not display the usual message "Press CH- to upgrade"..so it's a strange behaviour..

From this facts it seems an hardware problem..but..when the decoder is up and running..if you launch the "Media Player" the decoder "see" the USB Memory Stick..the files and the folder inside the USB Key..so it seems not an hardware problems..

I try with another USB Memory Stick and with an External Hard Disk too...but the results were the same: negative..

It seem a really strange behaviour...and moreover is impossible to upgrade the decoder..so it's not a minor problem..

If there is someone that have some hints or some suggestion please let me know..
Thank you for the time you dedicate in helping me.

If you have a full backup on your HDD, remove it or rename the "vuplus" folder on your HDD to anything else string and you should flash your box.

First of all thank you Angelofsky1980 for you reply..
If i've right understood you suggested to me to disconnect my internal HDD..
In effect, since this afternoon, i had an internal 1 Tb Seagate Hard Disk..but only with recorded files from satellite..

Now i've disconnected also because it's a couple of weeks that it work no more..

So i've made latest test without the internal disk connected..
only with the external USB Memory Stick Extreme SanDisk connected to the front slot..
but as i wrote the decoder do not prompt the question : "Press CH- to upgrade.." (or something similar..i do not remember exactly..)

Hope i could be more clear about the working condition..

Thank you again and sorry for my english..

I suggest to reformat your USB stick or change it. Try also with rear USB ports instead of the one in the front panel.

Today i've used :
-------------------------------------
San Disk Extreme 32 Gb
San Disk Cruzer Edge 16 Gb
-------------------------------------
File System : Fat 32
-------------------------------------
Slot : Front and rear up
-------------------------------------

Tomorrow i'll try other options..and i hope i will be more lucky...

Some times files get corrupted during download from the net, so re-download a new image file, and after erase-format the USB ( go for 2 GBmore than enough) , then re-extract the files direct into it!
Proceed to normal installation!

If not working ,try Factory rest of the STB...and install new BH image.

Hi,
today i've tried again but without success again.
I've tried also to format the USB Memory Stick directly
from the VU+Uno itself and then put the vuplus image through FileZilla but the result were negative.. :-(
As you see i gave also all the permission to the image files..VU_Plus.jpg

Here you can see that both the USB Disk are perfectly visible by the Decoder..when the decoder is on..
but when is booting..none of the two USB seem to be "visible"..

I try too to re-download the image file..but the result were the same.

@a911:
Just a question.. when you say:
"If not working ,try Factory rest of the STB...and install new BH image."
1) You mean this option...?
Reset.jpg

2) I do not try yet this option because if the decoder do not "see" the USB Memory Stick, and i do the Factory Reset..
i think i'll have a decoder with an original image always with the impossibility to upgrade it..

Wait for you reply..
Thank you for the time you dedicate in trying to helping me.

@a911
I have no clear idea on what happen when i launch the reset.
What is the result of launching "Factory reset"...?
Is it installing an image saved in an internal EPROM to the Flash Memory..?
If it does this and after this operation i could still not "see" the USB Memory stick during the boot process..
i'll have a decoder with an image installed in flash withoiut the possibility to upgrade it..and probably with an image
older than the 2.0.7.1 that is in the flash of my decoder now..

thank you for your help..

Solved..
i try another way...
i put on the USB Memory stick a different image (Open SPA) and the decoder recognize the files as something different and put the message to update the image..
i proceed updating the image to the "Open" image and then once finished the initial setting i put in the USB the Black Hole 2.0.9.1 image and the decoder now recognize the presence of a new Black Hole image...
So it seems that the problem were not an hardware issue but a software one..and the way to solve it has been to find a little workaround..

thak you to all the people that try to helping me with hints and suggestion dedicating their more precious thing..time.

Hy friends,
i had the same Problem.
The Solution is quite simple, just take an older USB with 2 GB.
Bigger USB Stick cannot be recognized always...
Hope it helped
