Duo2 DD+, DD and PCM sound problems

I have problems with DD, DD+ and PCM audio in satellite and terrestrial services.

My Vu+Duo2 has a twin DVB-S2 and DVB-C/T cards (the latter configured as T). I also have additional DVB-T USB tuners but the problem persists even when they are removed from box.

STB is connected to the DD+ capable amplifier (Pioneer VSX-LX60) with HDMI cable (supplied with STB), downmix setting is off, prefer DD is on.

Amplifier display is off, it is only lit when something changes (with remote or on signal changes).

Problem with DD+:
On channels with DD+ active: when soundtrack becomes very dynamic than I can noticed 'silence gaps' very short, lasting a fraction of the second, still noticeable. Amplifier display is off so the DD+ bitstream is not interrupted.

Problem with DD:
On channels with DD active: sound is not steady, amplifier display is lit every half a second like there were some breaks in audio stream and audio is not smooth at all. It does not depend how dynamic is (or is not) soundtrack.

Problem with PCM:
On channels with PCM active: there is a high pitch sound from time to time, sometimes very sparingly (every few minutes), sometimes more frequently.

When I start a box from deep standby, the problems are not present most of the time, but after some few minutes they reappear. I tried vuplus, black hole and openpli images. Problems on each of them.

Currently on: 2013-12-13-vuplus_experimental.

I have a Manual Fan Control plugin (instead of FanControl2), set it to 800RPM, temperature is never higher than 39C, so it should not be overheating problem (STB top case is quite cool everywhere).

My amplifier is OK too, my PS3 was connected to that HDMI port previously and I had no problems with DD/DD+ or TrueHD. I tired the PS3 HDMI cable but the problems were present too.

Is my Vu+Duo2 box faulty or drivers are to blame?

Any help appreciated.
Regards.

The problem persists also with MKV files?

I do not know about MKV yet (I need to create one), but I can report that problems persist for recordings made with my previous box (DM8000).

Ok, I've just tested three mkv files, two of them were created from DM8000 recordings, one from old digital recorder. The last one had video + DD track.

MKVs created with MKVMerge.

All three 1080i.

The problems persisted.

Have you the possibility to test your box with another ampli (to frineds home for example)?

I still did not understand

Do you use an optical cable ??
I have 3 Tuners DVB S2 (2 dual one single)

I use HDMI which was shipped with my duo2 package (I also tried another cable which I'd used for PC3 connection which had played blue ray with true HD perfectly). When I tried optical cable at first (just to give it a try before setting up my cable connections) then DD+ was reported as DD by my amplifier and sound quality was even worse.

Thank you for your tuner information, I meant dual or single of course.

I am really stuck with this as no sound type (PCM, DD or DD+) plays correctly. What is strange DD is more affected than DD+.

I was impressed that my USB DVB-T was working out of the box after installing BH 2.0.7.3...
...the sound was perfect but only for about 40 minutes. After that the problems reappeared.

Update:
I've removed USB DVB-T stick to rule out one possible cause of problems.

I did some more tests and it looks like that after start from deep standby everything is OK as long as I do not switch to DD+ track. I can watch channels with DD and PCM and no problems. But when I switch to DD+ track, either on satellite or terrestrial (Vu+ DVB-T/C tuner installed in box), all problems reappear and last until next deep reboot.

I connected a serial cable and watched output when switching to/from channels with DD+.

I noticed strange line:
Code:
AUDIO_CONTI[AUD]: DDP downmix 1 state : 1
Does that mean that DD+ is not passthrough?

Does it means that DDP is downmixed and then "upmixed" by SoC before letting it go to the output?

Any ideas? Any hints appreciated.

Again the same question
Do you use an optical cable or not.
Forget DTS with HDMI
As far as I know HDMI uses downmix.
Use an optical cable and test.

You only can use HDMI to do that if your audio receiver supports HDMI v1.4.
For me, with a Solo2 everything goes OK using an HDMI 1.4 version. My Sony Amp supports it as well.
With Optical Cable works OK too.
