Dead Vu+ Solo2

Any ideas what is wrong with my brand new Solo2 when it won't boot? There's nothing on the VFD and the TV doesn't show any image etc. Only the touch-sensitive power button lights up. It's only 2 days old. I put latest OpenPLI on it. It was working fine for a day and then the next day it wasn't working.

This is a Black Hole support, for OpenPLi image ask OpenPLi.

Thanks. I was more thinking more in lines of generic VU+ support as this seems to be an issue with the box/bootloader and not with the image. It doesn't even get light on the ethernet port on the back.

Don't worry ;)! From your first message it wasn't clear, it seemd like you are asking for OpenPLi problem. Do like Artorius wrote and report your results.

Thanks for the quick replies. The problem is the box is completely dead. It doesn't try load from USB sticks or light up on ethernet port or the front VFD display. No messages on VFD. Nothing on screen. No fan starting to spin. Is there any way to monitor if something happens via RS232? I don't see NFI images or RS232-related tools for this box although it does have an RS232 port...

As I know, there is no nfi image now. Is front power LED illuminated? Can you check PSU (external power supply) if there is 12V? Did you disconnect all devices (internal HDD, DVB-T, WLAN)?

The front power LED is illuminated and it brightens up on touch, but nothing else happens. I've tried another and stronger 12V 6A PSU with no different results. There are no internal HDDs etc. I never had the box opened up. I've got only power, HDMI and Ethernet connected + USB stick with image in front.

Try to turn off main switch for about 10 minutes, put the stick in USB slot and turn it on. If it won't work, could be an internal HW problem (5V internal power supply).

The power has been out overnight without any difference. Seems to be a HW problem to me. Doesn't seem to be a even a bootloader issue when fan/VFD/Ethernet ports doesn't start at all, right?

Try to flash it with vu+ Flash utility and a null modem cable?

find it in this post: http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/vu-uno-wont-boot.11721/#post-85171

I suppose, that your problem didn't appear next to flashing (you flashed, turned your box on/off couple of times and so on) if yes, could be a bootloader problem too, because Fan/VFD/Ethernet are controlled by SW.

To be honest i have only tried it with Ultimo !
I can see that the option for Solo2 is not there, but it says "Flash Tool for all models of VU+ receiver".
My tought was that it was worth a try with option solo? It seems that @sozo tryed everything else?

1. New solo2
2. Power on to check it out
3. Flash with vuplus-image-vusolo2-20130228041135_usb.zip
4. Reboots
5. Flash with OpenPLi-3.0-beta-vusolo2-20130301_usb.zip
6. Reboots
7. Transfer channel lists from old DM800HD and install some plugins etc
8. More reboots and plugin installs... configure *****
9. End-of-day... leaving box in standby (not deep)
10. Next day I am waken up way too early by my daughter who cannot watch cartoons!.... dead box! Swtich back to DM800.
11. Cannot find any way of using RS232 to troubleshoot. No tools or explanations on solo2 - just the old boxes. No NFI on Solo2. USB boot to reflash doesnt work since the box is by all accounts dead.
....
12. Sending it back to reseller after checking with them. Will let you know how it works out.

Oh my God,
Like this problem happened to me with solo2
Is it a problem in all vu+solo2 ?
If it was a problem with all solo2 then there would more than just two of you with a problem, if you did nothing to the box to influence this then send it back to your supplier.
