Hi mate

Yes you can install a 3.5" sata hard drive in your uno and I recommend no more than 1tb

You can put in a larger HDD if you upgrade to image 2.0.5 and above. As new BH format utility.... Formats in ext4 faster read/write speeds

Well it defo needs a 3.5" hdd, I have a western digital and have no problems with it, surely a 1tb would be more than enough for you.....in my opinion

I've only got a 1tb too bud. Plenty for me. Depends on if he wants to use as a media server or likes loads of films ;)

As i am fairly new to linux your replies have been very helpful as i am on a steep learning curve. Readiing between the lines i think 1tb will be more than enough for my usage.

If it's just for normal recording of programmes/movies then 1tb is plenty but as yummer says if you use it as a media server then you will no doubt need more

Pick a Green Edition 5400RPM drive. Less power is better, speed is not a requirement. Often also cheaper that way!
Using a 500GB WD Green Edition myself, works great. Also that is more than adequate for: Recording purposes + Photo's + Music.

Installed hdd mentioned in previous post. Followed yummers link to installation. Very usefull. Installation was slightly different, maybe because i was installing in uno or because only 2.5".,but figured it out . Mounted ok. All is good. Thanks for feed back.
