What is the "Ssh" thingy ( next to telnet( on BH info panel, and how does it get activated if it is of any use?

SSH is a protocol who permits login on the box via terminal emulation (you can use Putty to do that).
It's more secure than telnet (old protocl who do the same thing) but unencrypted.
To use SSH you MUST have a root account password setted up.

it sounds complicated, i ll stick to telnet

The result obtained is the same when using telnet, but with SSH is encrypted.
To logon on your box via ssh protocol, your root account needs a password.
You can setup root password using the command "passwd" into a telnet session.
