Loopback issue?

Hi All,
Still getting to know satellite hard- and software in general and the Solo2 and BH 2.0.2 in particular and I can't seem to get the loopback function to work properly. I've got a triple LNB on a single cable to tuner A and setup with 3 satellites, and tuner B setup as internal loopback from A. But when recording a channel or having PIP active the device won't show any other channels and a message appears stating "no free tuners available". The EPG greys out unavailable channels (or so it seems) so switching to a channel on the same transponder should be easy but I cant get anything.

What am I forgetting?

All help is appreciated.
Much thanks and kind regards,
Rick
PS how to inactivate PIP once active?

1. Tuner A loopthrough to Tuner B
2. Connect antenna to tuner B

Thanks for the reply but it didn't help, the message no free tuner still shows up.

Could it have something to do with CanalDigitaal and\or it's CAM? Neither card slot works so I have to use the CAM slot...

Could you explain better what kind of satellite setup do you have? (LNB & Dish)

Universal monoblock Triple LNB, the box doesn't state anything other than "TV Vlaanderen CanalDigitaal for Astra 1,2 &3" and the dish is 64cm. What more would you need to know?

How many cables do you have in your home near your box?
The LNB is used to tune the same Satellite or is a 3 Sat LNB (3 orbital positions)?

He have triple LNB on a single cable and setup with 3 satellites.

Have you tested both tuners ??
first A tuner and then B connected to antenna cable.

Specifically configuration I wrote

1. Tuner A loopthrough to Tuner B
2. Connect antenna to tuner B

for me with a rotor single LNB works without problems

Ok ... with a single cable there should be a DisecQ switch in some place (or into directly the LNB) to make possible to switch between satellites.
Both tuners should configured according to the switch settings.

I swapped the cable to B tuner and re-tested but nothing changed much, still only one picture at a time. One change I did notice is that before the swap the PIP stayed black but now the main frame stayed black while the PIP had a picture. Switching PIP off (long press on blue button) brought picture back to main frame.

@AngelofSky1980: shouldn't I be able to at least see two pictures from the same satellite at the same time?

@Matrix10: you suggest my device is defect?

I just swapped cable A to tunerB and connected a second cable from the LNB to tunerA and then changed the tuner config to multisat on each (without researching for services, is that necessary?). The result is the same: only one picture will display and only one tuner seems to activate at a time. Unless somebody comes up with something brilliant I'll revert to the original image and pick it up from there....

No I do not suggest that is defective
but I suggest that you test both tuners
to be sure.
=================================================
I really do not know what is wrong with your configuration or installation
because the two cables can not solve the problem that you have
because this is the LNB with 3 satellites and not the LNB with two outputs
on the same satellite.

I think that something is not configured properly,
If you have a signal on both tuners independently.
But what I do not know because I use rotor and single LNB.
Maybe someone with LNB configurations knows .

Tested both tuners with just one cable connected and they both work, so it doesn't seem like a hardware problem.

Also, with both cables connected, activating PIP will show the same channel in each frame. If I then change channel the main frame goes black and the info screen shows it trying to switch to tunerB but failing it then reverts to tuner A and the screen goes black.
If I then swap frames again, the active channel does stay active and the info screen shows it's on tuner B...

@angelofsky1980:
The triple LNB has 4 outputs and each output should provide the full range of 3 satellites, not? That is how it was explained to me by the mechanic. This is visible when I swap between cables, all satellite signals are visible. I changed the tuner configs to "Send DiSEqC only on satellite change" both to yes and no but it makes no difference. I see no other settings for changing DiSEqC and I see no switches for changing satellites on the LNB. Not sure why this is relevant though as the PIP should still be able to show different channels from the same satellite, no? Perhaps you could explain what you mean?

Anyway, the problem initially seemed like it had to do with Loopback but as both tuners work but the box can still not display different channels, it now seems evident it is a settings or software problem somehow, but it doesnt seem like there's anything to change?

All help is appreciated

reverted to native software image and problem still exists: the solo2 cannot display two different channels at the same time. I'll do some more searching on the net and post back if I find anything unless someone clever finds the answer first ;-)

You can not test a pip/record on the same satellite
in this way with both cables connected and with LNB type that you've got
because one LNB is directed to one satellite and second LNB is directed to another satellite.
You can test the PIP and record on different satellites if you put the two cables
with LNBs directed to different satellite.

For record and PIP on the same satellite there is only one option if you use a single cable
and it is

1. Tuner A loopthrough to Tuner B
2. Connect antenna to tuner B

Oke understood, thanks for clearing that up. I am now using one cable connected to tuner B and have tuner A loopbacked to tuner B. PIP will not work regardless.

I do not know the reason for this problem.
but I forgot to ask
how strong is the signal with your antenna
which is it seems to me small for this configuration of three satellites and 3 LNBs
counting the losses in disqc and dual tuner for PIP.

Can you do this test .

Connect antenna to tuner B
Configure only one satellite.

Do you have PIP on all channels on the same satellite with the same polarization ??
==========================================================
Do not forget
on this way (single cable) you can not have a reception (PIP/Record)
from channels with different polarization on the same satellite
or channels on different satellites at the same time.
========================================
At the moment I'm on NED1 HD.
As you can see in my channel list
I can see all white illuminated channel names with PIP

For info

It is possible to use three different channels with the same polarisation on the same sat at the same time

one channel to watch
second in the PIP
And the third record.
=====================
PIP is also possible to use in movie mode.

Hi Matrix10.
Thanks for all the effort you put into this! I tested one satellite with only tuner B connected and A looped back to B. PIP indeed working on the white channels in the list! Looks like problem was related to polarisation and is now solved and I need to create a bouquet so I easily know which channels should work and which wont. This has been a great learning experience. Thanks again.
Cheers for now,
Rick

That's what I expected.
Many do not know that one universel (standard) LNB/LNBs, can not work at the same Time
at different polarizations.

If you like to have possibility to use PIP / record
on the channels with different polarization and the same SAT
then you should have LNB/s with two outputs.
One of which is connected to A tuner and the other to B tuner.
So the two cables.
Of course it is possible to use a fully independent antenna installations.
But for your configuration you should have twin LNBs
with the two outputs ,for two receivers
in this case the two tuners.
