Hi people,

suddenly I noticed a issue with the sound only with the Sundtek cable tuner on normal channels and HD was oke, also satellite is oke and there is no problem.

The sound stutters like hell so I thought maybe it was just something with Open Blackhole so I switched back to normal Blackhole and the issue was still there so I thought maybe a problem then with the latest update from Sundtek so downgraded to something like 2 months earlier and problem still was there.

So today I again switched back to the website pack of Blackhole and thought let it like it is so I didn't update the image right away and noticed the problem is gone now, so it is a update issue of some drivers I think on the Black images.

Did anybody noticed this? if not can it be looked at so I can update in the future :).

I own a Vu+ Sole SE by the way.

Have you tried without the cable tuner connected if the satellite part works regularly ?

The satellite works correct it is just the via usb connected Sundtek in my case that gives a dissorted/stuttering sound on all not HD channels. So I think some drivers got changed recently and hat gives a problem.

Ask Sundtek for drivers updates.

It is not a issue with Sundtek!!, I uninstalled it completely and added a driver from 2 months old and the problem was still there. So something got changed it gives a issue with the Sundtek.

So what could be changed in the latest images it conflicts with the sound is the question now, like I said it is fine now with the latest driver but with the first release of Open Blackhole.

It was just the last updates that started giving this issue?.

You are correct.
The last Vu driver update has problems or has caused problems for Sundtek usb tuners. The problem does not appear to be with Sundtek because older Vu images work fine, and other receiver brands do not seem to have this problem.

Vu+ has made many changes into box box drivers so Sundtek must adapt their drivers.

I have the same problem with sound on my SoloSe V2, it is only on channels with HE-AAC sound. If I have a channel with both HE-AAC and AC3, switching to AC3 solves the sound issue.

The cable channels on my side only has mpeg sound so couldn't test that one out with switching the audio.

It does sound like severe jitter. It could be syncing issues between the picture and sound, were the sound tries to sync with the picture.

I have tried the following: Watched a channel with only HE-AAC with the sound problem and in the same time recording it. I then played back the recording on my HTPC (Connected to the same audio equipment) with KODI. And no sound issues at all.
I am thinking that the sound problem lies in the AAC decoder or audio drivers from VU+ .
There is no difference for me if I take the sound from HDMI or Optical, same issues (Have not tried analog out). Also no difference if I let my Yamaha RX-V773 decode the AAC sound or use the option "AAC downmix" in Black hole.

I can also confirm that the sound problem exist in all of the tested images:
OpenPli 4 (Latest)
Open Black Hole 0.1
BlackHole (Latest)
OpenVIX (Latest)
VU+ Factory image (Latest)
OpenATV (Latest)

Channels with AC3 or Mpeg has no issues for me. And a side note, the volume is much lower on AAC compared to AC3 and Mpeg.

For me the problem is with mpeg streams but also the playback on my computer from a recording the sound is just fine. And Sundtek also cannot produce the issue so it is definitely some problems with the drivers from VU+.

running:
/opt/bin/mediaclient -P off -d /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0

solves the problems with the old tuners (sold before 2014); the new tuners will receive an update within the next days.

We have found a workaround for this problem (however we can not directly confirm the problem since this issue does not happen with any of our Vu+ settopboxes).
