Stop recording... how?

Hello again guys,
I customised my red button to start instant recording... nice, but how on earth do I stop it?

I have tried pressing the stop button (I get a no entry sign)
I went to timers and can see it is recording, but the options are only to save the timer (not the video) or Delete the timer.
It seems very counter intuitive at the moment, I wonder why the stop button does not stop a recording.
I tried pressing the red button again and it started another recording.

EDIT: I see now that I can press the red button next to the stop button, and that gives me the option to stop recording... hmmm...
