USB not being detected

Not sure where to ask this question but we are trying to update my my friends vu+duo but his box doesn't recognise his usb stick in any of his ports.We have tried 2 usb stick,ones brand new and we have formatted them also.the computer recognises the usb's as soon as you plug into laptop so we are assumung that the usb's are ok.I have flashed my box with no probs at all.Is there anyway that the usb ports coulds be switched off?

Have you any hub usb connected during the update process?

Sometimes I need to disconnect all from usb ports to update my box.

No,nothing connected at all....also when we try factory reset.It doesnt delete everything. Is there a way we can hard reset the box to the way it came out of the box?

Has the usb stick a FAT partition?

Use a cheap no name 2 or 4 Gb on PC FAT32 formated USB stick.

Strange thing is though it isnt detecting the external hdd either.

Check the USB slot/ext. HDD wiring,,,and if not working , do another clean installations of BHI 1.66!
