VU+ Solo 2 takes ages to boot

My Vu+ solo 2 wont boot from pressing re-start, it just hangs and says booting, I normally have to power it off to get it on and even then it takes ages. It then gets to a blue screen saying enabling gui but stay on that untill you select a channel. It has black hold version 2.1.0.
It did the same thing with older version of Black hole. When I re-flashed it, it was ok for a few days.

I also have a 1tb hard drive

Thanks
Tony

It shouldn't take that long.
Have you checked it's not a clone?
Have you got any plugins loaded that could be slowing it down?
Are you switching it off, at the rear, every night, or just using the power standby option? I usually just use the remote power off button, so mine is ready to start even before the television.

Thanks for your reply.
I am sure its not a clone, I bought it from goldwafers in the uk.
The following plugins are enabled
bh full backup
auto resolution
zapping mode selection
remote control code

I never really switch it off its left on most of the time. I only re start it from the menu when I update a channel list etc, then it wont reboot so I kill the power.
I am thinking its something to do with it trying to look at the hd?

I have a VU+ Duo2, also from Goldwafers, and a similar hard drive, I installed myself, and it doesn't take that long to boot up.
I haven't tried the menu re-boot, since I updated to the latest Black Hole, as I had my channels, and boquets, backed up, and I add any others, I want, manually, using the manual searching option.
How much recordings have you got, on the hard drive?
What channel list have you loaded?
It could be a problem with the channel list, like out of date frequencies.
You could try re-loading black hole, then manually scanning in a few channels, to see if the problem persists. You could be right, regarding the hard drive, but the only way to be sure is to try disconnecting the hard drive, by opening the case and disconnecting the cable, then check the boot up.
Are you sure you haven't got a USB stick, or anything else, attached?
I'll try later re-booting my receiver, via the menu, to see how long it takes, but I think it will be different as I haven't made any changes, like adding a channel list.

Just tried a Restart, from the Black Hole shut down menu, and it took less than a minute, but as stated I hadn't made any changes.
I did notice another option, which was a Hard Reset.
Once you have the receiver setup, and your channel list edited, bouquets sorted, and backed up, it should make life easier.

Thanks again
There are not many recordings on the HD. I will erase them all. I do have several EPG's set to download each day.
I am using Vhannibal latest motor channel list. There is nothing attached to the box.

Unplug the HDD and any USB, flash a new image and test without any backups or extras.
Scan a sat and see how it performs.

I have the exact same problem. VU+ Solo2 1TB HDD BH 2.1 Kernel 3.3.8
I was busy downloading several onto the HDD, and I noticed the pulsing blue circle was happening more and more. After I had finished downloading (nothing in the queue) it was still running sluggish so I rebooted - which took for ever with the circle appearing, as if it was doing something on the internet.
Now it could take 10-15 minutes to start up.......
I didn't change anything.

Hmm tried a files ystem check - it says "unable to complete filesystem check. Error: Filesystem contains uncorrectable errors"
Looks like what the problem is.....perhaps Pianoman could check his.....

I tried file system check and it did not give errors but it only took a few mins and then went back to the menu without any message. I expected some sort of no-errors found message.
I still suspect the box is checking the HD when it boots, so once I have watched the movie I have on it, I will re-initialize it.
@sat is fled. I suggest you reinitialize your HD if you don't mind loosing what on it

Check your bootloader, you'll probably need to update it.
If the bootloader is the latest then try formatting your USB stick, FAT 32, then load the latest version of Black Hole 2.11, for the Solo2, and try again.

Solo2 don't had CFE upgrade published. So it's sufficient to flash your favourite image.

Is not weird if you just restart the GUI or if the problem depends on some attached device with problems or with some NAS or network device not found (these are just two examples).
How can we help you if you don't provide any details? You cannot just say: my box is slow at boot. Your box is more a computer than a box! And there might be thousands of reasons why it acts this way. For instance, too many plugins installed or some plugin that doesn't work properly.
You only know if your box is OK if you reflash it and have a clean image. Otherwise, we cannot guess.
